This came up recently as current situation/ status of a relationship, and where it was headed to in the short term.

How would you interprete that?

The 7 of cups always confuses me. lol

7 of cups is about things being unrealistic. so something about this relationship may have to do with both parties having no real idea where they stand with the other. lots of thoughts up in the air with no grounded basis at all.

with six of swords they are trying to recover from some past event in the relationship and they feel relief but five of pentacles mean there are serious insecurities in the relationship.

It could also mean that there's a lot roads the relationship can take but they're sticking to it to see where it'll end up. Depending on how long they've been together it could also be seen as they've lost that spark and almost don't remener what it felt like to be so "into" each other but it's sorta like they've been doing it for so long, why not keep going and see what happens? Perhaps those are the insecurities mentioned?

I asked the same question but timed it for the end of October, Chariot-2 of swords-ace of wands

It looks sexual, or like a spark is re-awoken? Maybe a clash of egos or wills?

All roads (7/C + 6/S) lead to separation (5/P). It's either because they have nothing to offer to each other or because of the poor treatment inside the relationship.

No, not always. Sometimes it's a rejection. But, yeah, I get what you mean - people have each other, in the face of adversity.

I tend to associate freeeeeeeeedom, as you put it, as a breakup. Which by the way made me lol :-)

The 5 can be confusing...I would often see it as hanging in there and having faith but I suppose the surrounding cards make a difference. Combined with lovers I could see it as someone sticking with you through thick and thin. Other times repeating habits or a relationship that goes nowhere, like fwb that never becomes a relationship but never really ends... Idk I'm thinking aloud here.

I'd strongly agree with this. All 5s go back to V Hierophant, and I think that the solution to the problem is often unorthodox but aligned to one's principles. That's why 5s are so critical - they are the point of game changing, and you either follow through or lose.

I did a reading for a friend and 9 of Pents came up in the near future position and then was followed by 5 of Pents. My impression was that she was getting promoted in title but not in money. Turned out that she did get promoted and the money was good at first until they changed things and she ended up making less than she used to. So first it was stress from many hours, and not its stress from not having enough money. So it's kinda like she went around in circles. She's been with the company for a while so I doubt she'll leave but is far from happy. I wonder how much of that could relate to love and relationships. I see the breaking point you're talking about, kinda like Saturn transiting the 7 house, you either make it or you don't. With chariot and 8 of wands flanking the 5 of Pents...it's hard for me to say. It's kinda like yes you will get through the hard time but through will power and not love and possibly decide to fully move on. Is that the wrong idea?

With 2 card of the Pentacles suit, I'd go with the monetary interpretation, at first. Money has a lot to do with the social position of the lady in 9/P.

I see what you mean - then I'd say that Chariot-5/P-8/W could the general description of the circumstances in her life, "What's going on" rather than focusing the spread on the love life only, regardless of the question asked. In this light, I wouldn't necessarily say that things would be unfavourable.

This was about 2 different people. The 9 of Pents and 5 of Pents was part of a Celtic cross for a friend that had me do a reading for her.

The chariot -5 of Pents and & of wands was about the couple, much the same way that Ceri posed her question. Which is why I kept posting under this thread. The other stuff was my speculating and thinking aloud.
