You know, Emperor and Empress go together. The Magician and The Star fit together. What about The High Priestess card? Would it be The Hierophant? I'm asking because for a long time I've sometimes read the HP as the "other" woman, and I'm wondering what card that is her equivalent would indicate the "other" man? IP: Logged |

Why do you pair the Magician with the STar?Personally I would pair the Highpriestess with Hierophant (who is also called High Priest in some decks). But I wouldn`t quite see the Hierophant as the other man, that would actually be more the Magician I think (if at all - I am not sure). The Magician is a trickster after all. IP: Logged |

I paired Magician and Star together on a whim, so I'd have more than one example of what I meant here buuuut both Star and Magician to me offer illusion, ability, hope, possibilities. Sure, there are differences - The Magician doesn't heal or help as the Star does, but both cards offer distraction in their own way. See I thought The Hierophant would be the High Priestess mate as well but seeing as how he's about order and following the rules, it's hard to see him as the other man too. Can you tell me more about how The Magician is the "other" man? IP: Logged |

I don`t know if the Magician is really the other man. But well the magician can charm off your pants with his verbal skills, so I could imagine that. I can`t see the Hierophant as other man either. IP: Logged |

In order to determine "the other" you first need to establish the sig. Usually the sigs are the Emperor and the Empress. Then if you have a larger spread, any other court card, namely:the Magician - a dazzling charismatic man the Fool - a young man or woman (if couples with a "female" card) the Hierophant - an older, more mature or important man the High Priestess - a similar woman in a man's spread the World - a very important woman for a man, usually the one in the heart (if in combination with other love cards) the Hermit I believe is not suitable as a court card. So yes, when it comes to women, the only one is the HP, unless you have Emperor Fool Lovers for instance, meaning he experiences a new love. Emperor Lovers World could mean one's greatest love, in a man's spread.
Personally, I don't use Major Arcana only for this kind of spreads. I use Major Arcana (at least I used to, for it's been a long time since me and Tarot lol) only for spiritual, insight readings about one's destiny, life path etc. But I guess if you want to see what's between a man and a woman, you draw several cards between Emperor and Empress. One from his side (Emperor....Empress), then one from her side (Empress....Emperor) - two tirage-en-ligne...and see what you get. ------------------ I seem to have loved you in numberless forms... @LeeLoo, okay so you're saying to determine who the third party is (excluding the HP) we have to have at least two cards? There isn't a designated "other man" card?IP: Logged |

^good point that's kinda sexist ya know?
Or could you just look at the HP as someone that you don't know about and depending on who is asking and the spread, determine sex?
