I had the same impression.
Well the last two cards together made me think that they possibly lost the child.
(like the little soul decided to go somewhere else - 8 of cups- leading to that feeling of devastating loss - 10 of swords-)

Yeah, I heard that the soul have the first 3 months to decide if it wants to come to this world, to the family... etc.. This spread really interesting... Maybe it gave up... Not this time!
