When drawing for a complex spread, do you simply shuffle, cut or not, and then lay the cards in sequence in the correct positions - by this I mean 1st card goes in position 1, 2nd card in position 2 and so on?

Or do you spread the cards and select as many needed at random? The way one does for online spreads.
