I've been reading up on the symbolism and meaning of tarot cards lately and am particularly fascinated by their connection to astrology (I know - I'm a little late to the game in realizing this. Better late than never, right?).

Recently, the 7 of Cups was pulled when I asked how a person felt about me. The general explanation was that this person thinks of me but felt indecisive and hasn't made up his mind about his feelings for me yet - which made sense to me and at the time I didn't question further. However, when I read later on that this card corresponds to Venus in Scorpio I became a little confused. I don't see Scorpio as indecisive or dreamy.

In my mind, the general description given to me implied a kind of airy interest - this person likes me but maybe wants to play the field a little, or perhaps isn't interested in moving beyond dreaming/fantasizing (i.e. wants to continue "crushing" on me), or might just genuinely be confused or uninterested in figuring out how he feels. I can understand that, but in the back of my mind I was a little surprised because I didn't get an airy/all-over-the-place vibe from this person.

If this card corresponds with Venus in Scorpio, and the suite of Cups corresponds to the Water element, wouldn't that mean that there are a lot of emotions and depth wrapped up in the symbolism of this card? Scorpio especially is such an intense and complex sign. I read a few comments/discussions around the internet in which readers commented that they felt the 7 of Cups was more Piscean than Scorpio - dealing with delusions and dreams - and interpreted it as though nebulous Piscean expectations were getting in the way of action. I'm curious if that's the case or if there is something deeper going on (that might actually justify the Scorpio association). I was hoping some of the experts can share their insight as I'd like to look at this card a little more closely. I'd like to start developing more of a connection with Tarot, particularly now that I know I can ground that understanding in my ongoing obsession with Astrology

It's a bit too little to ask about someone's feelings with just this card, a card of many meanings. And I always ask if they have feelings first
This card however, in the event he does have them (which you can't see here, because one of the possible meanings of this card is you imagining he has) would show they are plenty, that he fantasizes about you a lot, that he experiences a whirlwind of various emotions and that he may even be obsessed. In case it is established he does have romantic feelings for you

Astrologically speaking, this is Neptune, not Venus in Scorpio.

Thank you so much LeeLoo

Sorry, it might have been helpful to mention that this card was actually pulled as part of larger spread that looked at the current situation with this person. The psychic intuitively assessed whether or not there was a connection between myself and this person before using the tarot to look more deeply at what might be going on. This card represented how he currently feels about me and she also pulled the Hermit to expand on that.

...he experiences a whirlwind of various emotions...

This I think is the missing piece for me. This makes a lot of sense given the association with the water element.

Oh I'm so pleased to read this(/venture off the astrology section! A whole new world!) Beautiful exploration of that card... Neptune makes so much sense for it.

And yeah.. my experience with this card is that one may not be seeing clearly, or they are imagining a wide variety of possibilities, doing a great deal of dreaming... neptunian indeed!--uncertainty could be present but not necessarily in a negative context.. there could be charge and excitement.... More like the awe and wonder at the range of possibilities, emotions and impressions here... possibly there's an element of idealization present?

It IS like a whole other world on this side of the forum, haha I'm enjoying venturing out myself.

Thanks for sharing your interpretations Yungang!

This reminds me of the 7 of Cups from my own deck - the artwork is very similar to the Rider-Waite deck, but on the 7 of Cups the figure has his hands raised, as though to shield his eyes from the brightness of the cups (or to try to reach out to touch the cups...I guess either is possible). The figure looks more "awed" by the choices laid out before him, which makes me feel like there is indeed a lot of energy, emotions, and excitement associated with this card, but it is directed at the choices that lay beyond his reach (in the clouds) rather than anything tangible. To my untrained eye, this is where I can see the association with idealization and possibly even potential obsessive aspects mentioned about this card.

This is at least how I'm looking at it. Thank you for giving me more to think about I'm not much of a reader so I don't have much experience outside of what others have pulled/interpreted for me
