Looking at a few tarot readers videos, I notice that everyone can have a personal ritual arranged in the space where reading is practiced. I noticed: candles, (one or several), some stones, carpets or special tablecloth, little prayer or meditation ...I would like to add a bit of my reading space as well, but I do not know what to choose and why ... I would be glad to be able to think this with your help Could you share here the rituals you have? For example : - do you use the stones and if so how did you choose them / why? (I would like to have some but I do not know how to choose them ...) - do you use one or more candles and if so have you made a choice of color, candles and why? - something else special in this space reserved for reading your cards? Thank you warmly! IP: Logged |

Hi AS thanks for reminding me about this thread, I've been hanging around in Personal readings for too long Shall I go first? I don't bother with tablecloths or crystals, even though I have a lot of crystals sitting unused in desk somewhere. Maybe I should use them lol. Location: Since I live with a sceptic, I have to find a place where he won't bother me, it has to be quiet. Currently it's a choice of 2 places: either in my small room on top of a clothing box or on the ironing board. So not fancy! Procedure: What I've traditionally done is get quiet inside and think of the question. It's like I'm asking for help. If it's an important question I'll meditate first, more often than not listening to an audio. Lately I have added a couple of rituals 1) imagining white light beaming down on me 2) tracing reiki symbols on the cards which I spread out in front of me (I have level 2 reiki) 3) briefly adopt a power stance, the one I use is holding my arms up in the air like a V (I think I read that somewhere) I then pick cards. That's basically it. But now that you mention it, maybe I should use the crystals lol. Edit: It's more important, to me, that I get into the right frame of mind rather than relying on props. Although props can help. But I don't have a lot of space to set it all out (I hope to, one day).

@Magikaal Thank you so for this ! You make me "top of a clothing box or ironing board... You wrong, it's already FANCY I practice on my desk most of the time with a square of fabric on which I draw my cards and in which I wrap them when I finish. I address a prayer to the angels, holding the cards on my heart before a day of reading. Also, I give cards every day to the place one by one, which allows me to get in touch with each of them individually. I would like to have opinions for crystals stone, if some of us find it necessary or interesting, the same for candles ... IP: Logged |

Lol at the not so fancy desk. But it doesn't sound too bad, I guess depends on how the desk looks and if it has a lot of stuff on it.Re crystals, my favourite is clear quartz, for general meditation. If you had to get just one, I'd say that one, it's like the master stone. For relationship readings maybe rose quartz which is pink (I like pink). For abundance issues, golden yellow citrine (this is the one I like playing with the most). Some people like amethyst for protection. Also I have heard smoky quartz is supposed to keep you grounded and supposedly for psychic protection. These are my favourites and judging by what I just checked online, they are very typical choices. There are different meanings associated with them so you can pick what effect you want. Also maybe go to a store and look at all the crystals and see what you like, what you are attracted to. Maybe also a stone related to when you were born, there are some associated with each sign of the zodiac. What's your sign? IP: Logged |

And re candles, I'm checking a book that I have that describes this. The author (Denise Linn) describes space clearing rooms. She says that for meditation to use blue or purple especially purple. Specifically, lavender or violet, for psychic awareness and intuition. However she also says white is all encompassing and can be used for any purpose (if you can't find violet/lavender candles). And for each color candle there is a prayer. Here is prayer using purple candles: I dedicate this candle to inner visions and inner truth. May the deep purple of the evening sky bring a deepening of intuition and peace to all who enter this room. Admittedly this is for purifying a room but you can change the prayer for your own purposes of course. Edit: I have two candles. One is white, for general purposes. One is fragranced and has sandalwood, which I think is associated with this kind of work. And I forgot, sometimes I use essential oils, I just dot them on my wrist or something, or just inhale. One that i like is frankincense. Edit: but lol I never use the candles. They're sitting gathering dust. IP: Logged |

Thank you so much Magikaal for your 2 posts It's great for me ! It's a good idea to go and see the crystals in a shop and let be attracted by some! The quarz looks good For purple or lavender candles ... I didn't know ... The white color seemed addéquate for purity! Some also associate with health ... I think. I saw readers with red candles ... The prayer you give is interesting, thank you very much! I will also look for informations by myself awaiting further participation here and I will post if I find any interesting information. Thank you for everything IP: Logged |

My "ritual" is very basic. I just shuffle the cards until I feel they have become an extension of my body, then I focus on the question and read.In the early days of reading I was more ritualistic. I would burn candles or incense to hasten the correct frame of mind. The more I read though, the easier and quicker access I had to the part of my psyche connected to the cards. I do require quiet, preferably a completely empty house for in-depth readings. I keep them wrapped in a lilac satin bag, I feel this protects them. Any ritual IMO should be for the purposes of adjusting your frame of mind so that you connect with the deck, until all it takes is to touch them. Too much ritual can be distracting. But that's just a personal opinion. IP: Logged |

Thank you so Voix_de_la_Mer Yes you are right, sometimes the simplest rituals are good and feel connected to cards by energies is the best. My short practice makes me ask a few questions and I get nice answers, thank you
