I randomly stumbled across this quatrain (which is a short but complete four-line poem) found halfway down the page by famed prophet and arguably the most famous (and my favorite) astrologer Nostradamus. It seems to be foretelling an earthquake."A very mighty trembling in the month of May, Saturn in Capricorn. Jupiter and Mercury in Taurus. Venus also in Cancer, Mars in Virgo, then hail wilI fall greater than an egg." Does anyone know when this occurred or when it will occur? Saturn is in Capricorn now and will be in May this year, but Jupiter is in Scorpio. In May 1988 Saturn was in Cap and Jupiter was in Taurus, Venus was in Cancer in the latter half of May that year while Mercury was in Taurus for that whole month, but Mars was never in Virgo at anytime that month. There was also no huge earthquake anywhere in the world in May 1988. The biggest and one of the most famous quakes occurred a year later in San Francisco, but in October, not May and thus didn't meet the astrological criteria given in Nostradumus' prophecy, this prophecy anyways. Maybe the Candlestick park one in 1988/89?Well (editing) that was in October. I think it might take software on a home pc to find that date. It's too specific and I drew several charts just now, incl from the Sf, CALIF one I suggested. In May I found a cpl but they only had one placement. IP: Logged |

Randall, I believe he was; although it might have been mentioned under the umbrella of "Mystic".IP: Logged |

The SF quake was in October. There weren't any big quakes elsewhere in 1989. The next big quake was in 1994 in Northridge. I was born and raised in CA and in 1994 I was 2 and living an hour from Northrudge and def remember feeling it even as a baby. The planets don't seem to match any potential quakes happening in May of this year either... I'm assuming maybe in Nostradamus' time the planets were in those signs and maybe a quake happened back then? IP: Logged |

------------------------------------------------------------------------- "The sun in twenty degrees of Taurus there will be a great earthquake. The great theater, full, will be ruined. Darkness and trouble in the air, sky and land when they call upon the faithless God and the saints. “(CIX) That's very specific saying the sun at 20 Taurus (around May 21st. Unfortunately no year is mentioned. IP: Logged |

My curiosity, was he always spot on? Saturn was in Capricorn, https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/1960_Valdivia_earthquake https://earthobservatory.nasa.gov/NaturalHazards/view.php?id=19947 We may very well need to scope the future dates to better see if it is coming or past already.

Did he perhaps go by a different time system?? I have no idea how that works. I know there's the Gregorian calendar and then the Julian calendar..IP: Logged |

I think the main problem facing modern-day Nostradamus interpreters is the fact that we don't know if his predictions were meant for the future of the world or only his present time in his little area of Italy. The quakes he was foretelling COULD have been quakes that would happen in his lifetime in Italy. I'm not sure. The astrology he mentions for certain events seems to point to events in the far future though...IP: Logged |

Yeah I think that is the main issue. It's just hard to know if his astrology was right and also hard to figure out where a supposed prediction might occur. Also, he could've perhaps used sidereal (Vedic) to calculate charts instead of the tropical Western charts most people use. IP: Logged |
