In Canto Five, we learn a little about regret over Aunt Sallie not trying to convert Linda into her Faith (Christian Science). But, as Linda said, they are not the proselytizing type. "there are some whose spirits need more breaking and I was surely one of these" Page 137Still, Linda delved a little deeper into that mysterious mind-over-matter church on her own. She also explored the hidden mysteries of Catholicism. She speaks of her Love for the Catholic Church and her hunger for the secrets hidden within the Vatican walls (like the yellowing copy of the original marriage license for Jesus and Mary Magdalene). Linda briefly mentions her longstanding friendship with a lady named Ruth. I'm not yet certain if this is the Ruth who rhymes with Truth that would be with Linda until near the very end. But the most important part of the Canto has to do with Lost And Found. Linda loses her precious blue and silver rosary, and we get to share a real miracle with Linda as we witness another example of the transfiguration of levitation. It's the second time of glowing-knowing--there in the midst of the shimmering-shining sparkle of snow diamonds (the first was the smell of sweetpeas with the appearance of the rainbow). On this night, Linda made a vow to her S-elf that if these two miracles, unrelated to one another, were to ever occur both at once, then Life would finally rhyme, and a truly great miracle would take place. These two events remained fused together in Linda's Heart and represented the requirements for a miracle. In retrospect, Linda knew which miracle she was speaking of (although it was, at the time, yet undefined). It, too, was something to do with Lost And Found--something lost long ago. As for me, I will always be a secret druid and a Brown Owl. Because I k-NOW in my Heart of Hearts that when we are not looking, fish really can swim through the sky and mountains can truly fly.

Hi Okay, I finished Canto Five last night. I just loved Linda's miracle in the snow of lost and found! What a master she is with description...once again I felt as though I was there walking through the snow and experiencing the same emotions she did. Also again...I relate strongly to Linda's explorations re religions, given my similiar background in this area. I so understand, her questions and comparisons...wondering *which one* was "the" truth. Actually, some of the conclusions she reached as shared later in Gooberz, helped me a lot to find some answers in my own quest. Just one of many reasons why Linda means so much to me. IP: Logged |

In this Canto, I had wondered how she'd reconcile that day Bob did't come to drive her to the train, so she could tell him I Love You...She asks him many years later the Miniature Golf Game during a casual conversation and he had no recollection of the event - none at all. Not every President nor King recalls every adoring face. I find this statement candid about reconciling other matters... the game of rhyming Life was becoming more complicated every year I lived She certainly has an insatiable will to know the truth and to know it...and finds confirmation that night of lost and found, I shall remember this! What did this Canto remember for you of losing something and finding it? Here's mine: When I was 9, maybe 10 my father died and all he had was $2.00 to his name, and that went to my eldest brother. My eldest sister received something from him too, they got to go to the funeral, but not me, I felt so left out and received nothing (not that it mattered) I just wanted to go to was all. When I was 29, and pregnant at the time, I had just started a new job and had no money to go home, on the way running errands, between buildings that windy day, I stopped for no reason at all, look up at the wind, looked down at my feet and there laying before me was a crisp new 2.00 bill! I felt my Father in heaven look down at me that day while the wind blew and so did my smile, huge grins...all warm and fuzzy inside. :*) xoShiya IP: Logged |

page 152I thought of the time in Aunt Maud's garden, in the storm when I had felt this same kind of joy, overflowing and the cup of my heart runneth over with happiness as the remembered scent of rain-soaked sweet peas mixed crazily in my nose..with the sharp, clean smell of snow and the cold winter air seemed to contain the odor of damp, warm earth suddenly, all oddly blended the celestial pin points of glittering glory in the sky this night that long-ago rainbow electrical thunder and flashing lightning these shimmering, sparkling snow diamonds wet sweet peas..sweet peas apple tree just Jesus and me .... and for an instant ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Sweet peas are sacred to me ------------------ All my love, with all my Heart lotusheartone IP: Logged |
