CANTO ONEMy Verses Don't Always Scan
Ram that I am, and ruled by Mars--I am cursed with curiosity
concerning the maybe-miracle of tomorrow's newborn sunrise
promising a brighter spring
therefore, I mistrust sedatives in any form
from pills to religious platitudes..prescribed by medicine men or monks
for neither can tranquilize the pain threshold of loneliness
until it reaches its final, suicidal stage of longing for permanent oblivion
which would only leave unsolved.. the mystery of approaching April and so.. tonight I tried to fight insomnia the hard way
by watching one of those group therapy talk shows on television
now I may never sleep again
a couple of guest stars were rapping with the host, in the round
and the subject they rapped was nitty gritty of poetic expression
then one of them tossed out this literary pearl of wisdom "I've always felt," she cooed and simpered "..that poetry is the creative artistry of genius
plus a knack, of course, for rhyme and meter
in its essence, poetry is the subtle alchemy
of a sensitive soul" like hell it is .....to be continued, hehe that was page 1 ------------------

sprinkle the rose bushes..and fill up the bird
bath in the backyard
so the wrens and sparrows, bluebirds and robins
could take their morning showers

Golden foil, with a
