Sometime in the early 1980's, while a student at UCLA, I met Linda in Westwood Village.

It was a chilly night. I was sitting on a block wall on the west side of the village (scraping my memory here...it's been a long time since I thought of this), hanging out with a couple street musicians (friends) who were performing for their supper.

Linda walked up to listen to the music and then engaged us in conversation. I cannot remember the particulars, what was said, etc. I remember that she and I connected at some level, even in an otherwise random social interaction. She had a man with her, but I never could tell if he was a date, a lover, a guard, a driver or a friend. He left and returned carrying four large documents (basically, a letter-sized paper bound in four volumes from 1.5" to 4" thickness) and presented me with a manuscript of Gooberz. She even signed it for me (though she miss-spelled my name, then got it right).

The title page is hand-lettered and has an actual photograph pasted in. The manuscript was done on a word processor, I believe.

I've carried that manuscript with me around the world. I just unpacked it again after another transoceanic move a few months ago.

I always wondered why Linda gave me the manuscript. I believe she saw a familiar soul, or I reminded her of someone else. But I know it had to do with "The Lion" (I am a Leo, too). I may have forgotten the words spoken, but not the feelings nor the energy of that evening so very long ago.

Got sidetracked to this board today in another intuition-tickling way and decided to share this story with you all...figuring you'd appreciate it.

Wow! That is awesome! She went with a more fairy tale cover, but I like that photo very much!

I'm going to move this to LLC. More people will see it there. But I will leave it open here.

Hello, Kris and all, I'm all new in this page. I discovered it while searching for the 《new books》that Linda migh5 have published.. i keep an old paperback of star signs along with me for the last 23 years.. printed in Buenos Aires, 1992.
When i discovered she passed so long ago i was shocked.. i still am.. so i am really happy and eager to get Gooberz and enjoy whatever she wanted to tell us.. thanks, MilneCat, for your story. And,Randall and the rest, thanks for creating and keeping this site alive!!

Did you mean a part of the book?

Or just where it says channeled in the above?

I'm at the Heathcliffe part right now.

Then it has a Thank You that reminded me of your namesake.

I was so impatient to read it that I didn't even notice it's a first edition.

Ha!

Not like me at all...

And have you noted many differences between the two?

I remember once I was reading "The Spiral Staircase" in two rooms.

I started noticing all sorts of discrepancies.
