Jackie, I´m sure we can share interesting viewpoints. Which one would you choose to break the ice? The lady goes first, although I would like to suggest one of my favorites. I really wanted to study the BiBle but had no idea how ir why?
Then I came across the book...'JESEUS THE MAN' by BARBARA THEIRING, anyone read it before?
She studied the Dead sea scrolls for over twenty years and discovered the Pesher method of de-crypting the bible and what certain words were code for, like for example the Lord came to Mary ( as Katie u said before about Law repalcing Lord) well Joseph Jesus's father would have been called the Lord because of his position in the Essenes and his DnA I suppose as being Heir through the David's line.
So basically what the Pesher mods says is that Mary was indeed a virgin but perhaps not so technicallly, she did conceive with Joseph but at the time she was a 'vestal virgin' and therefore chosen and given as a child for the purpose of remaining a virgin unless there was a higher purpose for conception and in this case the need for A David heir.
Also those who were in high authority in the Essenes were known as 'Angels' and therefore at times when Mary and Joseph had dreams with the angels they were actually being consuelled by those Essenes in such authority. The predicament that led Joseph to talk to the 'Angels' had to do with the fact that Mary and Joseph conceived too early ( got carried away it seems in their love for each other) for a David to be born because they had specific dates for David's to be born. I'm not explaining myself very well here because it's alot of information and I'm probablt telling you something u know all about. But getting to know more about the Essenes and discovering the PESHER mode is the key I believe to interpreting the Bible. The BIble it seems was not meant for the anyone and was exclusively for certain cults at those times but Jeseus changed all that and believed everyone should have acess to the information.That is why he had so much conflict with these authorities who were indeed part of his own group, He was seen as the saviour but did not save in the way that they had planned and believed it should be done. So Jesus being Jesus with his strong will and Christ Principle broke away from the Essens to begin another cult follwing called Christianity.
Do u all know this? Am i just repeating someone else's words please tell me because I don't read things very well, just rush through them getting the general drift.

Hi to allBases Loaded , I don't study the Bible,I'm just a reader ,so,I'm not sure about the prophecys.
I have some guess...but I don't like to talk about "guess" in a subject like this.
That's why I think you may begin with your knowledge.  Anyway, I'll start the topic.

Hello, Cat. As Jackie said, I´m glad to ´see´ you here. however, I´m not an expert here. If I know something about the Book, it´s because of the importance I see it has. The Bible says that those who are knocking, asking, looking for, etc. will receive the solution. The knowledge we need about a matter can be found faster when we ask the author or maker. So anything you wanna know about the Bible, ask Him; the answer is coming before you ask (Matthew 6:8). Bases Loaded IP: Logged |

Anyway, I'll answer your post. You explained perfectly well and this theory is highly interesting.
I believe that Jesus studied with the Essenes, I read several books that spoke about this.
In fact, the Essenes didn't transmit their knowledge, they had an extremely closed society where nothing goes out and nothing gets in.
The only thing that makes me think is that what we call "The Old Testament" already existed and it was of public knowledge. But in spite of being Jewish, the Essenes had a life philosophy quite different from the Jews of the time , much more in "tune" with Jesus' message.
I could give some examples, but I have to consult some books for that.

to be honest i dont know whta to make of the bible and all religons i think its real and that those people lived a long time ago otherwise the book its self would not be here in our present time.
but i really honestly dont know whats real and what isint i guess you just have to believe in what is and if the churuch did chnage stuff in the bible then maybe the church really isint all about god like its says it is .
if yu believe in the word of god then why not just leave what was as it was and not change it what you want it to be. im not saying it is 100 percent changed or if it is at all it could be a possibility.IP: Logged |
