i love the hitler reference. Yes what of him and other bad, bad folks (Hussain) who bring so much awakening ( goodness) to mankind. I can't imagine what kind of karma they would have. Then i start to think of all the followers and all the evil deeds that so many ( generals and officers)have done. Who decides who will pay back what. Food for thought indeed....

Well, Conversations with God brings up Hitler a fair bit. I still don't understand that yet. I think the gist is that we attract what we wish to experience (4/8 ring any bells?). So in the case of Hitler, he was attracted by the mass consciousness of the people at that time.? This reminds me of Napolean - he also seemed to have been attracted into power and swept across Europer. War and Peace was awesome - especially the epilogues if you get a chance. So I think there aren't rules as such, but what we make ourselves. What we attract ours-elves. It is hard for our awareness to comprehend pain and suffering, but it happens. It's usually at this point where debates about this get fairly dramatic with my gf. But Karma can indeed get hairy. So, maybe Karma may be defined as "The attraction of like energies that may transcend spacetime".

Heaps of Love,
Dean.

thas an interesting thoery, Dean.

By the way. I'm 16. Let me believe in magic

I've found believing enough that I can do something, lets me do it. Is this determination?

I have juvinile athritis in my hands and legs, was born bowed legged and go through emense pain after walking for long periods of time. (They straigthened over time. I was put through a fish tank and had my right shoulder muscle sliced in half. I have been told by many docters I shouldn't be doing anything physical.

Meanwhile I train in karate, taekwondo, akido, hapkido, boxing may thai kickboxing and ninjutsu. I want to compete in the olympics for karate and taekwondo and maybe even boxing.

I compete in all sorts of tournaments and am un-deafeted. I am going to the olympics, and no docter can make me "believe" I cant.

I've been told by alot of trainers I could go to the olympics, they dont know about my past injuries.

That's awesome! Go for it! Suzuume! Magic does exist. You reminded me of a song by Pearl Jam (many things do) called "I'm Open":

quote:
A man lies in his bed in a room with no door
He waits, hoping for a presence; something, anything to enter
After spending half his life searching, he still felt as blank
As the ceiling at which he stared
He is alive, but feels absolutely nothing
So, is he?
When he was six he believed that the moon overhead followed him
By nine, he had deciphered the illusion, trading magic for fact
No tradebacks...
So this is what it's like to be an adult
If he only knew now what he knew then...
I'm open... (2x)
Come on in... (4x)
I'm open... (2x)
Come on in... (4x)
I'm open...
Lying sideways atop crumpled sheets and no covers he decides to dream...
Dream up a new self for himself...

You're an inspiration!

Dean.

Suzume, congratulations on all your accomplishments. I admire you for them. Bravo, and I look forward to hearing of your Olympic successes.

Magic does exist, whether you are 16 or 616.
Belief is a part of the puzzle.

But belief did not singularly enable you to triumph. You worked hard, with determination. I doubt we will ever find an Olympic athlete who merely thinks him or herself into incredible physical shape and amazing abilities...without the hard work also required.

What of someone like Christopher Reeve? Does he believe less than you do? Is there a measurement of belief? If he believes harder, will he walk again?

Those are rhetorical questions. I don't have the answers. But I dislike seeing The Meaning to the Answer To Life wrapped up a little too neatly, especially when the package is labeled 'belief.' Because belief is in the eye of the beholder. Some people believe in Jesus, some in Buddha, some in nothing at all. They are all most likely right, and wrong.

but did not belief and desire fuel the ability to accomplish the hard work.

Yes, I believe it's the essence which forms the motivation. Some atheists can do remarkable work from the angle of "I'm Doing It" while Buddhists might do the same things and say "I'm Being It", but Christians might also do these things and say "Jesus loves me for doing this", but really, they are all doing the same thing

Trillian, what do you think of my Meaning...

Thanks so much Trillian! I was waiting, peacefully and patiently for an opportunity to share with you something. I was actually going to put it on the Tibetan exercise thread as you inquired as to my wedding, but here's cool...

Sally and I were going to have one as "our" song in the ceremony. We were going to dance to it, but it goes for fairly long, and I can't dance, so we kept thinking. Then we were out shopping, and "Happy ..." Um, I forget the name of the song.

OK, try to guess this one:

"Me and you, and you and me
Da da da da da
da da da da

Happy together! That's the one! We're gonna play that! It's cool, because we've told a fair few people it was gonna be One, so when it plays, and we hop and bop around feeling so happy it's gonna blow people away!

I'm looking forward to it now - one week to go!

Heaps of Love,
Dean.

ps, and some more Love

Deano, you mean The Turtles song Happy Together

HAPPY TOGETHER

Imagine me and you, I do
I think about you day and night, it's only right
To think about the girl you love and hold her tight
So happy together

If I should call you up, invest a dime
And you say you belong to me and ease my mind
Imagine how the world could be, so very fine
So happy together

I can't see me lovin' nobody but you
For all my life
When you're with me, baby the skies'll be blue
For all my life

Me and you and you and me
No matter how they toss the dice, it has to be
The only one for me is you, and you for me
So happy together

I can't see me lovin' nobody but you
For all my life
When you're with me, baby the skies'll be blue
For all my life

Me and you and you and me
No matter how they toss the dice, it has to be
The only one for me is you, and you for me
So happy together

Ba-ba-ba-ba ba-ba-ba-ba ba-ba-ba ba-ba-ba-ba
Ba-ba-ba-ba ba-ba-ba-ba ba-ba-ba ba-ba-ba-ba

Me and you and you and me
No matter how they toss the dice, it has to be
The only one for me is you, and you for me
So happy together

So happy together
How is the weather
So happy together
We're happy together
So happy together
Happy together
So happy together
So happy together (ba-ba-ba-ba ba-ba-ba-ba)

One of my all time favorites. Either way, I just dated myself majorly

Congratulations to you & she!!

Thank you so much Juni! Yes, that's the one. I just got back frmo Lunch and I was going to try to find it and post it, but now I don't need to. Thanks heaps. I'll try to learn the words so I can sing and dance...

Isn't it a Beautiful song though? I couldn't read it without singing it. Sally and I always make our own words. It's so catchy, but we didn't know what they were Once you start, that days a right off singing that song.

Thanks again Juni,
Dean.

I wish you joy in every moment together. Blessings to you both.
