An eye for an eye... Getting off the Karmic "Payback Wheel". Walking one's talk of peace. Karma v/s Free Will. A balance, a choice. We can end the cycles. If one goes out and hurts someone else because they've been hurt by that other, then that accrues another "debt" that they will have to repay at some future point in order to balance the energies they have misused, by lashing out again rather than forgiving. It is an unending cycle that only choice and free will can put an end to. But even then...the person you owe or if you were the wronged party, you or they... can negate the debt and stop the payback cycle. That is what "turning the other cheek" means too. Not to be hit again but to turn away and refuse to play the game. (Hee hee, I like to think it could mean to "moon" someone with those "other cheeks" saying in essence...Fu-k off! I am not going to fight you!) And during every second of every day, We have Free Will. WE are free to choose our behavior, our reactions. Our free will could cause us to choose to act in a negative unloving manner, or it could cause us to choose to act in a positive and loving manner. In Essence....Karma and Free Will co-existing in a balance. If one only follows Karma then the payback cycle continues. Two wrongs do not make a right. We have the free will to say no to the Karmic cycles of payback, and to not incur any new Karmic debts. So I like to say......"get off the cross, they need the wood"....or "get off the wheel and walk your talk". Feet can climb but a wheel cannot. Feet can take us off the familiar paths, but the wheel must stay on the road. Ok... rant over! ------------------ ~I intend to continue learning forever~"Fayte" ~I am still learning~ Michangelo The Door to Gnosis is never permanently locked...one only needs the correct keys and passwords. Fayte Awesome, it echoes: The only way to break the cycle of reincarnation is through ascension to a higher vibrational level, and that requires unconditional love and forgiveness.
Cheers,

sorry fayte, but the only way of getting off the reincarnation cycle is to achieve Nirvana. Ultimately that means turning the other cheek (no not your bum) cool rant out IP: Logged |

lalalinda Believe what you want. BTW...the bum cheeks thing was my dry sense of warped humor in an attempt to be funny. I made my statement and that is that. No sense in my elaborating more. Thanks Silverstone.

thank you for your words!alongside all the new insights in the field of physics these days ... and what we know about time, space and dimensions, i am comforted by my personal belief that "instant karma" equals peace. to elaborate, if we "remove" time and space from what we call reality, every action we make instantaneously comes back to us. i trust that no one/no thing would want to suffer that badly, to constantly torture one's self in a never-ending loop, that they'd want to hurt anything. i believe we here on earth are about to undergo a major revolution in consciousness that will make this the case. love is god is now is peace, Ambit

Fayte, these are words I like to reread now and like the silly, ever child-like person I am just hope. The Sun is hidden from view during a Storm but it is ever present nonetheless, just waiting to once again share it's loving warmth. Love to you, Dear Friend. IP: Logged |

Yes, I took a while in understanding the “turning the other cheek” business... I suppose it’s the metaphorical way of the Bible to explain how to break the destructive cycle of bad karma…It’s tough though… Especially when you don’t remember what you did wrong and you keep being punched. I have chosen to step out of the vicious circle a few times, breathe deeply and try forgiving… It takes its time but I’ve succeeded… Once or twice… I’m in the process of getting it again… However, it’s devastating not even see the outcome of it… They came, made you pieces and left you behind. Untouched. While you have all the hard work of forgiving. Once and again, one after another, when you try hard not to harm anyone… I must admit you feel so relieved when you are a little bit nasty back… I sometimes need to unleash my sharp tongue and get the bitter feeling of unfainess out… When you try the enticing taste of revenge, the other path is almost an act of blind faith. Revenge sweet revenge… Fantasizing with it is the only treat allowed until animosity levels turn down a bit… Not wanting that to be done to you again is the only motivation. And peace. Because when you stop retuning pain, it stops coming back… At least from that front… I still struggle to understand why certain shallow people around me, which are viciously manipulative and selfish have such a placid life. Their lives is so perfect that they could remind you of the Stepford Wives… Simply perfect. And easy. All they always ever wished. While they are mean to you. Stabbing you in an apparently sweet and charming manner.

Interesting post Fayte. In my mind, this is different than turning your other cheek to an ignorant person. Ignorant as in very very arrogant or very stupid. I wud say do not show your other cheek but avoid such person. Well its my opinion in anyways. So if I exclude such ignorant persons and discuss further, then the movie 'Top Gun' comes to mind that I watched a while ago. In there is a beautiful advice from Van Kilmer to Tom Cruise that goes "What will you do when you fly up there amongst your enemies who hate you. And your co-pilot does not want to fly with you." [Hope I got that right!!] What kind of life would that be. Make even your enemies mourn for you when you die. Turning the other cheek. Yes let them even kill you. Teachers like Buddha and Yeshua wud take 1000 lives to drive the point across to their subjects. Again, not for fool subjects, but people who were really good once and suddenly seem lost. Someone needing a sign that there is indeed God. For someone who is suffering. How much this journey of ours is like a train we catch. Before we board the train we make some friends. When we get inside and our stop arrives, we see no one behind us. We move on. We feel sad then. How insane a man must be when left all alone. After stepping of the wheel, some say that God assigs us to a permanent place. If we cannot live in peace with our neighbor how can we be at peace with our neighbors up there.
