This is a spin off from another thread that asked an interesting question but turned into a bit of a joke. I wondered what people seriously thought about Heaven and Hell. The last thread consisted of a jokey but well written answer to the question: ''Is Hell Endothermic or Exothermic?'' I knew it wasn't real when i read the question. Asking for a physical quantification of a metaphysical event is extremely hard to satisfy with an answer. Heaven and hell exist in our daily lifes in varying amounts. Hell might be thought of as a term for the cumalative effect of all our past behaviours on our present situation. Thus you can live in Heaven or hell now. The choice is yours, or rather the choice has been yours since the beginning of time. How your life is now is an indication of how you've chosen to spend that time. Enjoy. Lol! I must admit i find it somewhat perplexing that the higher one's conciousness the more is expected of them by god. But where did this conciousness come from? For instance one can see that in this life there are people 'sinning', but different people have different ideas about what sin is. Therefore this idea or notion one has of what sin is must have a birthplace. What is this birthplace? What is given to us, and what is it we earn along the way as souls? Surely to be more ignorant than another man of a particular sin must mean less retribution for the ignorant one? But what made one man more concious than another - and who or what gave them that 'gift'? Moreover if it is implied that gifts are given to us, then how do we differentiate between what we earned ourselves and what is given to us by god, and does the notion of gifts not detract from any notion that we have to strive to earn these things? I can understand the difference between someone that brought good or bad karma upon themselves, but i am confused as to how one developes and increases conciousness from one life to the next, when conciousness itself will moderate how a being is judged by god and therefore affect what they 'earn'. Therefore how can conciousness itself be an 'earned' gift? If it itself is one of the moderating influences on how a man is judged? ------------------

You asked a lot of interesting questions here, MCM. I have thoughts on those questions as I know everyone else here at UC do as well, but since you directed your post at one person, which implies his are the only thoughts you are seeking, I will refrain from giving those thoughts. For the record, what I posted at FFA titled " Hell Of An Answer" did not " turn into a joke" it WAS a joke and never meant to be anything else. Had I wanted to discuss the topic of hell seriously I would have put in a thread about it here at UC instead of posting a joke at FFA. I think that we humans have the gift of a sense of humor for a reason. Though I like most others take spirituality and the subject of religion seriously, it doesn't hurt to lighten up about it once in a while. I know a lot of good Catholic jokes too if you want to hear them. Most of which were told to me by priests. Just click on the picture and you will see it larger. I am certain that being human Jesus laughed too and did it often so I love these pictures of a laughing Jesus. IP: Logged |

Please give your thoughts Mirandee. It was not intended to be exclusive, despite my fondness of the way IQhunk expresses himself.------------------ quote: Mars, that's so spot on!

Joke or otherwise..... I HAVE HAD A TEACHER ASK SUCH A SIMILAR QUESTION! So variants of that situation have indeed happened for real! We were studying Dante's Inferno and other Hades/Hell related literature. And yes...I received an A for my essay! He has been my longest friend of nearly 4 decades. ------------------ ~Judgement Must Be Balanced With Compassion~ ~Do Not Seek Wealth From The Suffering, Or The Dire Needs Of Others~ ~Assumption Is The Bane Of Understanding~ }><}}}(*> <*){{{><{ ~~~ ~~ ~~~~ ~~~ ~~ ~~~~~ ~~~ ~~~~ ~~~ IP: Logged |

I want to print some out and frame them, Fayte. Just love the smiling and laughing Jesus pictures. Makes me feel so good looking at them. Thank you, MCM. I appreciate that. I will be back later when I have more time and give you some of my thoughts regarding hell. However, right up front in answering your question, "what do you think heaven and hell are?" I think they are both a state of eternal existance, not a place such as earth is a place. My question is, do people who believe in reincarnation even believe that there is a heaven and hell? I would think they didn't but I don't know that much about the teaching of reincarnation. Heaven and hell seem to be strictly a Christian and Jewish doctrine. However other religions may just define and call them by some other term. IP: Logged |

Hi MCM, Saw this string only now. I recalled an anecdote from a seminar, I am sure many have heard of this too:There are 4 corners in the Chinese Heaven. 1) Japanese Wife 2) American Salary 3) Swiss Home 4) Chinese Food. There are 4 corners in the Chinese Hell. 1) American Wife 2) Chinese Salary 3) Swiss Food 4) Japanese Home Jokes aside, a real Hell does exist. It is the lower astral plane where negativity takes on the residual consciousness dumped by all the living beings. There is no evidence that these beings are suffering, to them all things may be hunky dory but not to the occultist who sees their realm. The Heaven of religious books is the Astral Plane where all desires are instantly gratified. The Muslim Heaven for example is the ultimate male fantasy. 72 virgins per man. Quite an incentive to win converts back in the middle ages. What do I think is heaven ? Totally Conscious Spiritual Multidimensionality minus the Law of Karma. To either be a floating light being in the infinite mind of God, yet be able to experience anything I wish by transporting myself into the body of whomsoever I wish at whatever time-space-dimension. Hell? There is only one really hellish expereince. Buying stocks at the peak a few minutes before the bear market begins. IP: Logged |
