Anyone could be possessed by an entity, and it's easier for alcoholics, or seriously depressed people, for example. Many, not all, but many people out on the streets or in mental institutions are there because they are possessed and have lost their soul.

This subject can go many ways-- The movie Fallen starring Denzel Washington is a perfect example of an entity possession

Other type of possessions are the result of somebody or many people skilled in the dark arts-- Sacrifices and rituals will need to be done in order for this to be accomplished
