If you know your Dog's Sun Sign, you can look up his/her personality description here. http://www.astroabby.com/features/dog_horoscope.html "All in the town were still asleep, when the Sun came up with a shout and leap, in the lonely streets unseen by man, a little dog danced and the day began......" ~ Rupert Brooke IP: Logged |

I didn't know for sure if Jack (Long Haired German Sheperd) was a Taurus or Gemini and now after reading that I am sure he must have been born on the cusp. He's my very bestest friend! Thanks Neph! KimIP: Logged |

I'm not sure what Evie's sign is; they said she's a year old at the pound, but as soon as we got her home she started losing the last of her baby teeth (canines and premolars), which we think puts her more around six months.I guessed her for a Virgo, and upon reading the descriptions I'd have to say either Virgo or Libra seem the most accurate, and based on her teeth as well, that would put her at 5-7 mos old - We've only had her going on two weeks, so we're still getting to know each other. Isis,You are right, she is much younger if she's losing her teeth!!! I can't remember what age Jasmine lost her teeth but it was several months ago and she just turned 11 months on the 17th!!! Wow, I wonder how many dogs whose ages are mis-guessed in the pound! IP: Logged |

Ya, and my fear is that, since they insist on spaying the dog before letting you have her, now I'm concerned that it have been a bit early to have her spayed...?Anyone know anything about that? IP: Logged |

Dear Isis, Jasmine was about 7 months and 1 or 2 weeks when I got her spayed. My Vet recommended age 6-8 months. I know that different Vets recommend different ages. I met someone who volunteers at Guide Dogs for the Blind and she was shocked that Jasmine had not been spayed yet,(at that time) for she says that they do it when the puppy is very, very young, just a few weeks old. That is just *WAY* TOO EARLY for me! The Humane Society here also does it very young and keeps them overnight. ***I DO recommend pain killers when you do it.*** I didn't get any for Jasmine. Big mistake. The poor little girl was crying and whining in pain. I felt so bad for her. She had a lot of pain the first night and the 2nd day and night. My Vet said it is an option and I didn't know if she would need them or not. I would just ask your Vet and also maybe research on Internet what the "right" age is. Follow your instinct too. That's what I did and I am content with the age we had it done. IP: Logged |

Oh, they already spayed her, it's a condition of adoption if they're old enough, and by my estimation she's right around 6 mos so sounds like it wasn't too early, thanks for the info Luckily Evie didn't appear to need pain killers, she was just out of it for the remainder of the day, and sat down a bit delicately for a day or two afterwards. I'm just relieved to know they didn't do it too early (considering they were totally off about her age in the first place). Thanks again! IP: Logged |
