How do dogs react to moving? ------------------ “The good things which belong to prosperity are to be wished, but the good things that belong to adversity are to be admired.” Seneca IP: Logged |

Hope, my Cocker Spaniel who is now in Heaven, my cat Yoda, (also now in Heaven) and I, moved to my Mom's house 2 Summers ago. It went fine, but of course Hope had been here before so there was no problem. You might want to look up "animal behaviour" on Internet and then "moving dog"????? I'm sure others here have great advice I hope everything is going better for you. Good Luck IP: Logged |

No biggie for dogs. They even enjoy the process sometimes. But cats can have problems with it, and sometimes even visit the old house if it's in the same city; so if your cat is lost, that's where they will usually turn up. ------------------ "Never mentally imagine for another that which you would not want to experience for yourself, since the mental image you send out inevitably comes back to you." Usually it`s just a big adventure for the dogs Something new to sniff and pee on. We take in dogs often and they just act like they`ve always been here. They adjust very well as long as their two leggeds are with them ------------------ If having a soul means being able to feel love and loyalty and gratitude, then animals are better off than a lot of humans. ~James Herriot IP: Logged |

Awesome, thanks everyone Things are going much better, thanks Nepthys We think the dog has some minor behavioral problems, and I was concerned the move might exacerbate them, although we're going from a condo to a house w/ a yard, so we're hoping it will actually alleviate some of them (since she'll be able to run around more). No cats here, I have three birds - I've found that while cats and dogs can coexist, and dogs and birds can coexist, cats and birds seem to close on the food chain to coexist well. But the new house does have vaulted ceilings, I'm sure the birdies will LOVE that ------------------ “The good things which belong to prosperity are to be wished, but the good things that belong to adversity are to be admired.” Seneca IP: Logged |

My mini pinscher (Moe) moved with us twice. We drove instead of flying...he loves the car, so it was no big deal. As long as there is a familiar stuffed animal or favorite toy around, your dog should be okay edited for spelling IP: Logged |
