This is really great to see and yet it happens so much of the time! Be sure to click on NEXT PAGE at the bottom of each page ... there are five pages in all. This lady found a hummingbird nest and got pictures all the way from the egg to leaving the nest. Took 24 days from birth to flight. http://community-2.webtv.net/hotmail.com/verle33/HummingBirdNest/ juniperb ------------------ If having a soul means being able to feel love and loyalty and gratitude, then animals are better off than a lot of humans. ~James Herriot IP: Logged |

I found a baby hummingbird that had been pushed out of the nest by mommy, presumably because he had a malformed wing and couldn't fly. I saved him from the local cats and hand-raised him for several weeks. He died of goiter due to iodine deficiency, which broke my heart because I later found out all it would have taken was a little salt added to his nectar to prevent it. But it was a magical blessing to be able to hold one in my hands. A once in a lifetime experience. They are absolutely beautiful and precious creatures.------------------ “The good things which belong to prosperity are to be wished, but the good things that belong to adversity are to be admired.” Seneca IP: Logged |
