Watching the news a couple days ago, I saw a story about man who's "pet tiger" escaped (did anybody else see it?) and was eventually shot and killed...breaking the heart of the owner...

Later I saw the man on Larry King's show. I think his name was Bruce Hawkins (could be wrong) and he was an actor who had played Tarzan in a movie...I was not familiar with him, tho.

He raised his tiger, Bo Bo, from a cub, and says he doesn't think Bo Bo escaped but was purposely "let out" by someone. He was nearly crying too, when speaking of his tiger being shot...sez they could have used tranquilizer guns...

Another man on the show said it was necessary to shoot him with a real gun, because tranquizer guns take too long to take effect, and the tiger was charging...*sigh*

It's sad, and I feel sorry for the man, but I've also got my thoughts on people raising "wild" animals like that...I know tigers are beautiful creatures, and I probably wouldn't be able to resist a little tiger cub myself...

Love,
Rainbow

That is sad. I can't bear watching people face heartache from loss, since I feel it soo deeply, so probably best I didn't see it. I replace the feelings with mine somehow!

I know what you're saying with raising wild animals, but hey Bo Bo was evidently loved I'd love a cub!!

cool picture by the way

I read about this in our newspaper. Yes, it's a hard lesson to learn when keeping wild animals as pets, or using them for shows like Sigfried and Roy (not sure of their names).

Tippi Hedren has a wild animal sanctuary for wild cats and she says they should never be pets. (She is Melanie Griffiths mother, and starred in Hitchcock's "The Birds" movie)

Remember, they were "Born Free" and should stay that way (unless rescued and not able to fend for themselves in the wild)

Yeah... really. When are people going to learn that you cannot domesticate a wild animal. They need to be free! Poor tiger They're such beautiful creatures. I especially love the white ones.

I have a kitty that looks like a white tiger. He's a mut of sorts with some Siamese in him... colored like a Siamese, but striped. We call him Mau Kitty (short for Halemaumau - Ha Lay Mow Mow). He's a talkative kitty... and oh so snuggly. His birthday is coming up soon He'll be 1.
