Love that dogster site, thanks very much for the linkage. Thanks to all of you here for the kind welcome, too. I rescued a cocker spaniel from the "pound" in May of 2003... "Mattie" is her name... she's my third-straight cocker rescue... LOVE HER! I work for a newspaper as a journalist, mostly in sports, but one of my "side" jobs there (which, like many dogs, i BEGGED the highers-up there to let me do!) is to put together the paper's weekly "pets" page. Among other features on the page, every week there is a photo and write up on a dog (or cat, rabbit, guinea pig, horse, etc.) that is up for adoption, "The Pet of the Week" as it were. I love that part of my "career" in the newspaper biz! As a child, my family had an awesome golden retriever (mix - had a little bit o'collie and a little bit o'german shepherd in her, from what i understood, but she looked like a typical golden retriever, with very reddish fur). I'm sure you all know about these sites: http://www.theanimalrescuesite.com http://pets.care2.com/ http://www.giveusahome.com/banners/banner1.htm Take care, KarenSD P.S. Karensd,I had a Cocker Spaniel, named "Hope", she was the love of my life. I lost her to cancer in May 2003. I'll post a link soon. That is SO COOL that you get to do a pet's page for your newspaper. Maybe you could get some great ideas here at HC! We have a lot of great topics and links. IP: Logged |

Nephthys, i am so sorry about Hope... you know she's up there at the Rainbow Bridge... i know how hard it is to lose the four-legged friends, and to cancer as well... my first cocker spaniel "got" adenocarcinoma... the second one had Cushings and other ailments, the sweet cocker girl i adopted at about age 6 or 7 is now 7 or 8 and so far, so good. She's on a vegetarian diet (like me) - at least most of the time (me, all of the time!)... Thanks again for the kind welcome and i am always looking for ideas for the pets page. Right now, it's only a half of a page weekly but i keep pushing the head editors for MORE SPACE! The furkids deserve nothing less! Peace and respect, KarenSD IP: Logged |

Dear KarenSD ~ (and whoever else is interested)Here is a link to my webpage. To read about Hope, please click on "My Pets and I", "Special Update on Hope", and "Hope's Fairy". **Don't follow the "next" links at the bottom of each page because they are not updated.** We also lost Abby and Kona, the 2 Dobermans. Abby, we lost Jan 2003, and Kona, Dec. 2003. I adopted Star Jasmine, my new puppy, in June 2003. http://www.geocities.com/jovettemarie/ IP: Logged |

Dear Nephthys!!Hope and my current adopted dog, Mattie, look very much alike. My heart is with you as I know just how sad it must be for you even now today without your friend there in the physical sense. The pain, you know that I know!! But free of her body now, yes indeed... she can be free of cancer now and forevermore! HOORAY for that!! My last cocker before Mattie, Sandi Ego, who had Cushings disorder and was on medication for the last couple of years of her life and who was also my dear, dear friend, looked even more like your dear Hope. They are definitely playing together across the Bridge for SURE! They must look like twins, Sandi and Hope. I can picture them now romping about. And we'll see them again, that is the best part of it, Nephthys! Your other dogs and my other dogs (including Honey, my first cocker who died after getting adenocarcinoma... lung cancer! and no, i never have smoked... did she!?!?! ) are without a doubt doing SO WELL in ALL WAYS now. That's the other great news! *HUGS NEPHTHYS* This is a great web page you have, all of the ones I looked at are inspirational and made me smile. The green aura/faeries are something else. WOW! I'll be visiting it again (and again). Thank you for sharing!!! KarenSD IP: Logged |
