I thought that cat was gone. I saw him running across the backyard when I came home early one day. Today I ordered an outdoor cat house for him. Im going to make the committment to look after him. My husb does not want him indoors but i don't think its a problem since he is a very private kitty. I need to know what is the best way for me to help him stay warm in the winter. Hay in bottom of the house? Newpapaers? Any other thoughts?IP: Logged |

Dear 13,I don't remember all the details of your story. What about blankets? Cats love nice, soft, warm blankets. IP: Logged |

Oh my, this past weekend my husb was sitting at the kitchen table. I was out. The kitty came walking up to the back door, sat in the sun on the step and then smelled my husb. hat that was left outside and then walked over to the bowl of food. My Husb the skeptic is now open to caring for the cat. He has been eating the food i put out. I have a pond for water and in the winter Im going to put a heated pad outside in the cat house. This cat is about 6 months old now. Does anyone have any other tips for caring for a ferrel cat? I welcome ideas. IP: Logged |

I'd try to cage the kitty for a while and slowly get it used to human contact.------------------ "Never mentally imagine for another that which you would not want to experience for yourself, since the mental image you send out inevitably comes back to you." Rebecca Clark IP: Logged |

Being so young, it shouldn't take long for the kitty to start showing affection and begin purring. ------------------ "Never mentally imagine for another that which you would not want to experience for yourself, since the mental image you send out inevitably comes back to you." Kitty is definately eating the food we put out. Husb and I traveled over T/Giving. We put the house outside and the bowl of food right inside the cat house. The food was gone when we returned. Now there are some blankets in there too. I'm going to get a heated pad for the bottom of the house for the real cold times. My sister in Jersey has one inside ferrel cat and 5 outside ones. They sleep under the house in the real cold times. They will come in the house but won't stay and let you pet them. I feel my kitty will eventually let us near him. He likes it at our house and he likes the dogs but I think he needs more time. My other thought was he may decide in snowey times to show himself. It happened to my sister in a snow storm. She had to assist a snow stranded one.IP: Logged |

During the holiday's it got cold and we got several inches of snow here in michigan. My kitty was seen many times entering and leaving the cat house. There is another cat too, this one is dark grey. It looks to be about the same age as the orange one. I was glad he found a friend since his brother died. I am glad kitty is using the shelter, it makes the effort worth while. My husb thinks there may be kittens eventually. If that happens I vow to catch them and take them to the humane society for real homes.IP: Logged |
