Last night I watched this incredible story on Animal Planet, called "Heart of a Lionness" by Wild Kingdom. A young lionness adopted a baby Oryx (like an antelope), in Kenya. They were together for 16 days. She did not hunt during this time; she only guarded the baby and took care of it. After this baby, she adopted 5 other baby Oryx's. This was all in the wild, and had no intrusion by humans except to document it. I just can't get over how incredible this story was. If anyone is interested here is the link to the story on Animal Planet's website. Heart of a LionnessNormally, this is a symbiotic relationship in the wild, where the Lionness is the predator and the Oryx is the prey. The Kenyans interviewed said they felt that this was a message from God.
