I was taking care of my friend's pets for the weekend and the latch broke on the Iguana cage. I latched it with an elastic braclet that my daugher was wearing. Long story short, the iguana escaped. I am sooooo sad. We have been looking for her, but no luck. any good ideas??? IP: Logged |

OMGosh! that's horrible. Say prayers for Iggy to come back. Ask Angels to help you find him. Shoot, I don't envy you when you have to tell your friend..... good luck IP: Logged |

I have already spoken to her. She has been very understanding. She is a very good friend. She blames herself for not putting the iguana in before she left. She knew the latch was breaking. I am just afraid for iggy when the weather gets too cold. I have looked and asked and put up signs. Now I can only pray. IP: Logged |

Blue moon - do you know for sure that she escaped the house?? that she is indeed out doors? I used to have an iguana, i know your fear about cold temps - they can be deadly to them. If you think theres a possibility of her being indoors somewhere still, i can give you an idea of a few places they like to hide. Mine loved the closet, any where and everywhere in the closet, be sure to check coat hangers. They can be sneeky, so look inside the coat hanger it self. A coat hanger is triangle shaped, look on the bottom bar of the hanger, like where you would drape pants over)Look on curtain rods, in drapery, atop of cabinets (even if you think theres no way for them to get up there, they may still get up there) Iguanas feel safest up high. Look in any high places thru out your house, check under furniture (warm spots) check areas around heat registers ... in knowing they migrate to heat. If you think that she may be outdoors ... check against the foundation of the house, garage, shop, shed etc (more warm spots) ... car port even. If you have trees in your yard, dont forget to look up and really concentrate on looking - cause they can blend in well with thier surroundings. Also look in gardens, in amongst the plants (this was my iguana's favoritve spot when i would take her for walks - all the food plus the heat from the top soil) ... I hope you find her! All the best of luck ... please keep us updated. Love and light to you and to "iggy" angela IP: Logged |

Thanks! But I do know she is outside. Her cage was outside. She has 2 and my friend left her out. It has been really nice. Thanks for the new hiding place ideas and emotional support.IP: Logged |

Iggy is back, safe and sound!!!! She was in a very tall tree in back of my friends house. We all looked there hundreds of times!! my friends heard rustling in the tree and saw her up there. her husband managed to coax her down. She is safe in her INSIDE cage enjoying strawberries and grapes. I am so relieved!!!!!!!!!! Thanks everyone for you support! IP: Logged |
