Im so happy today. My little newbie ( there are two that are about 5 months old now), the one I call Monkey let me touch him when i put food out this morning. I reached down to empty the cup into their bowl and he was about 2 inches from my hand. I reached for him and he did not run. So i touched his back and then he turned around and i touched him on the head. Very cool. He looked like he was into it too. Does this mean i can expect that all the time now. P.S. Also i have recently hung a toy for them on a string and they are now playing with it. I hung it on the back of the patio chair so I am not right there when they play. Is this good?IP: Logged |

Well it's hard to say if it will continue or not. But one things for sure, you have Monkey's trust. Trust is the first step. I believe if you continue treating them as u have they'll hang around and the bond will grow. Once one has trust and the others see that, it's only a matter of time before they all gain trust in you and continue to come back for food and fun. Awww! That's so sweet of you to put food and TOYS out for them. I woulda never thought to put out toys. And with putting it in a place where you're not watching is even better. Cats are sometimes strange about showing us thier playful side, esp when we're not playing with them. My mother's old cat, Blue Boy would play only by himself. We tried many diffrent toys to get him to play with us. but he was happier on his own. However, if he knew we were watching, he would not play. Do you plan on trying to capture one (or all) of them for your own pets? IP: Logged |

Hello Angel, I am not sure how far this taming will go but i would get him spayed/neutered if our relationship continues, even if they won't come inside. Population control. Short History: I have been feeding them for over a year now. The mother and her sibling(sometimes it will be only one of them for weeks at a time) come around and now the two kittens do too. The two kittens have been around my husband and myself since their mother started bringing them to the food bowl so i would think that they have the best chance of getting tamed. We'll see. I read about using play to help tame them on the internet. Apparently it is working somewhat.
