My young cat has always been scratchy and bite-ing and clawing whomever he pleases. He also is darting out the door when I open it thinking he is tricky when it is a danger to him. he has never cared for hands in general relating back to the early vet visits and rectal thermometers-He also stalks a little dog and hangs in front of the little dogs window which is part of the front door. He either likes folks or he hurts them. He particularly like some Thai students who were visiting. When we are out in our atrium and another person is there they always try to pet him. I tell them do not pet him. they do pet him and are bitten or clawed-quickly and pointedly. After this happens i must be defensive and up-to-date on his shots of course. why do people insist on trying to pet him when I tell them he is a killer kitten and will definately hurt them. Usually I am trying to gather him up and inside which is stressful and unnecessary to both of us. If it was a pit bull these delirious petters might heed a warning! Alas it is a pit-cat! So any tips? He is less than a year old and I have had him since he was 6wks old. His name is Tuxedo Meow, Jr. or Tuxietwo! Tuxytoo?IP: Logged |

Gosh! Sounds like you just have to be really firm and tough in your voice when you tell them not to pet him!!! IP: Logged |

Oh yes i know all about this. My scorpio schnauzer used to bite when he was little. Everyone in the family knows this. Well what does the brother in law do? He sticks his hand in the dogs face and guess what happened? My dog bit my brother in laws hand. And it bled like crazy. It was quite a dramatic scene. P.S. the dog never bites anymore. Hes most loveable now.IP: Logged |

You know, I was just thinking, it's pretty disrespectful of people to continue to approach/pet the animal, *after* you tell them not to, *after* you have explained the temperament/situation of the animal. This shows that people don't respect the animal, nor you as it's owner. Sounds like it is all about respect. IP: Logged |
