I'm sure most of you have heard about this by now. Here is a link to a current article.

http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?f=/c/a/2007/11/08/BAD8T8PLU.DTL

I am on call at Wildcare in case they get birds or need extra staff to replace those working closer to the Bay.

This is so sad and horrible. First the So. Cal fires, and now this.

OHhhhhhhh....... This is just wrong!
So, so, wrong...

No words to describe how utterly sickening this really is...

For any of you guys living within a reasonable distance like our Nephthys please volunteer yourselves to help in any way you can. Just click Here

Ohhh... I remember something similar to this happening in the early 80's too. Many friends of ours took in birds like the one above. To be certain they had an opportunity to survive.

So many deaths...

I see the beaches have been closed down?
I imagine the locals are not abiding by these closures either. With so many critters in need I hope residents are taking action and rescuing regardless of red tape. [Please Be Careful People!]
Call (877) 823-6926 and let a trained professional handle the oily critters they've already set up a place to clean, house, and feed the displaced little guys.

Thank you for sharing your own time and energy both posting this and volunteering for this project as desperately needed.

You so ROCK!

ps: on a sidenote have you been to FFA lately? if not... click here seems your name has already been referenced several times....

Gosh! This is horrible. Thanks for the link to the news, i haven't paid much attention to the news the last few days. Those poor animals! I'll never forget the spill in Valdex Alaska in 1989, "Exxon-Valdez"

Nice to hear your taking action and lending your time to assist in the clean up efforts. The world needs people like you Jovette!!

THank you both!

I just got a call to go and help on Sunday or Monday! I have to go to the IBRRC in Fairfield, where most of the birds are being taken. Waiting for more info.

Wait until you guys hear this........on Saturday, Wildcare received 25 oiled birds during the day, and 8 in the evening/night.

I was asked to go to the Fairfield IBRRC location where all the oiled birds are eventually taken, (after having triage at Wildcare or other places in the bay area), but I couldn't go because I got really sick Saturday night, was really sick Sunday and Monday.

Well on Sunday a.m. Ed from Wildcare called me to see if I could go in on Sunday evening......I was too sick so I couldn't go. Get this - they received 82 oiled birds on Sunday night!!!

The 2 main directors at Wildcare have been working 12-13 hr. shifts per day.

Wildcare does have hundreds of volunteers, though, and has been sending some to IBRRC every day as well.

How ya feeling Jovette!?!?

Found out from my Chiropractor, after telling him how sick i was, two times with in a week of one another and how fatigued i still felt (although most other symptoms are gone, except headaches on and off as well as a cough) that what i thought was just the common cold turned out to be the Flu. I held a flu vile against me and my body reacted in a way that told him, i still have it in my, the bacteria that is, and its was sitting in my head and lungs. Which explains the mild cough i've had ever since. And headaches. I've never had the Flu that i know of ... and what u went thru here a couple weeks back i wouldnt wish on ANYONE.

Get better hun! Lots of Rest! Lots of fluids! Stay warm!! Have some soup.

I am better, thanks. STill coughing, but it's okay.

WOW, Angie, I've gotten the flu my entire life. It is severe.

Hope you get rid of your "bugs". Hope you feel better too.
