I saw this on TV. I'm not saying I agree with getting elephants to paint- IMO they should all be free, but its interesting to see just what these amazing creatures can do. (And I know they are capable of a lot more- in ways which we do not yet understand, for example telepathy). http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8FGEJKQzaMA IP: Logged |

The once Star attraction at our Zoo in Anchorage, AK was Annabelle the elephant. She died in 1997. Annabelle was famous for her Abstract paintings. I've heard some of her paintings have sold for thousands of dollars. (but can't verify that) One site says her work resembled Willem de Kooning in his decline. on a side note, Willem de Kooning also died in 1997.Maggie, who is now at PAWS in CA, tried her hand at painting for a short period of time. She was trained to hold a paintbrush with her trunk and paint watercolors on cardboard. She was also trained to play the harmonica. A pic of Annabelle painting:

I hope that the $$ that Annabelle's paintings earned went towards helping animals. IP: Logged |
