I've been trying to do a lil research on them online regarding Felines. Ta fill ya in on why ... I almost lost my male kitty over the weekend, or atleast I thought I was gonna loose him. We think he had a seizure after playing with the laser pointer. (he's an otherwise healthy cat) It's my belief that I caused the seizure with the assistance of that laser. (he was sitting at my feet playing one minute, next minute he's in the bedroom wailing, drooling, foaming at the mouth and limp as a noodle) I rushed him to the Vet (luckily, they are only like 2minutes from my home and thank god they were open)The doc looked him over really good and found nothing. We did a sonogram to look at this heart, a xray to see his lungs and his bladder, absolutely nothing. He said he doesnt show the typical after effect signs of a seizure but isn't ruling it out either. The doc told me if it happens again, bring him in and we'll do blood work. (he didn't want me to have to promise him my first born, as i'd already spent enough $$$$$$$ trying to find the possible causes)

So back to the research. I can't seem to find anything negative on them, except not to point them in their eyes. (which i knew) Has anyone had any bad experiences with one? Or know anyone that has?

Another thought I had was, we just put in new laminate flooring. The last time i played with the cats and the laser pointer, we didnt have the laminate flooring. I noticed how it kept reflecting off the floor. Could it have reflecting into his eyes and caused the seizure? When looking for answers, all I see with being pointed in eyes is possible blindness. not seizures.

I play with my kitties and dogs with the laser and have for many years.. Being mindful ( as you said) to not get it in their eyes.

I have not had ny adverse reactions at all.

When my dog Hope first started having seizures, they tested for everything and then ruled her as having Epilepsy.

The kitties LOVES the lasers ... but I did throw it in the trash after this happened. I had just bought a new one recently ... but better go in the trash than spend another $400 at the Vet's office and come home with out my baby. I've since found a top to a fishing pole and tied some ribbon to it as well as a bunch of curled up ribbon at the bottom. They've been in kitty heaven. I have to put it UP and AWAY each time I am done playing with them ... otherwise my female will EAT the ribbon. that girl eats the strangest things and I dont know WHY ... she loves to chew on plastic. I'm always diggin in her mouth, fetching things.

He's been fine ever since. He's suckin up the special treatment and extra attention ... even from Michael.
