for a pet, because you never know what you'll find, and maybe you have a friend who is looking for some special dog or cat you may come across!!!For example, every once in awhile, we stop by at our local animal shelter "just to see who's there"........well last Friday we saw a gorgeous, super friendly, loving, intelligent, purebred German Shorthair Pointer who was only 1 year old........he had my dog's eyes and face........and lots of ticking just like her. Turns out he was on hold and the first family adopted him. BUT you just never know. You could have a friend or relative who may be interested in the animals you come across. There are literally millions of animals all over the world, sitting in animal shelters, this very moment, waiting for their forever homes! I like to follow the links from my local animal shelter to all the animal shelters in my area............ So I just found that the Sacramento SPCA has a special this month; one or two cats for $40 total! This is a great deal, considering my local shelter charges $150 for one, or $200 for two!!! So it doesn't hurt to look; you never know who you might find! They also have small companion animals too, such as rabbits, guinea pigs, rats, birds and barnyard animals too! IP: Logged |

I'd love to but we can't have animals here. If I went to a shelter, i would just leave broken hearted. We have a ton of wild cats around here because the old lady across the street leaves food out for them. Which attracts a lot of racoons and other little creatures. Many of them are beat up from living and fighting out in the wild. Wish I could rescue them all. I begged my mom for a dog for years when I was a kid, thinking one day she would cave in. She didnt. So, someday when I have a home with a yard for them to run around in, I will adopt a few. Great thread topic and suggestion anyway, though, Neph. IP: Logged |

I know, it is so hard, going and seeing all of them in there. I just want to say that you never know. Keep your heart open; keep your eyes open, you never know when the Universe will answer your wish. IP: Logged |

I'm the same, 26T. I would love a few animals, but we currently live in an upstairs flat - not suitable for pets. The idea of adopting homeless animals is close to my heart and as soon as I live in a house with a yard, I'll be adopting at least one or two cats or dogs. I still stop by pet shops and visit the SPCA website regularly even though I'm not adopting yet... my last pets were actually my ex's cats, and so it's been three years since I had a pet at all, let alone one of my own. We're going to take a walk to the SPCA soon, although I know I'm going to leave there sad because there are animals I'll only want to take home. IP: Logged |

I recently received an email from a friend with pics of some sweet little jack russell/chihua mixes and one little guy instantly struck my heart. He's 2 and has those bright, shiny, mischievous eyes I just love! I just don't know if I can handle losing another one. It's been a little more than a year since I had to put my little buddy down and I still hurt and cry. I hate it when my heart gets involved! IP: Logged |

Yes, of course, that is the most difficult thing. We have to accept it as a part of life. I have lost about a dozen in my life, it is really hard, but know they are always with us, still. IP: Logged |
