I have put animals down, well, one to be exact a very loved, part seal point Persian and I held him as he passed...I retrived from the mouth of a very intelligent and beautiful Huskey a pet rabbit that died in my arms...I sat with Rylee, the above mentioned Huskey as she took her last breaths....

I have sat with humans when they pass, even if their families were there I have sat with those crossing....(and I take off their oxygen masks at the last moment NOBOBY should have to die suffocating with a plastic mask!!)

I have a weird hang up about nothing passing alone, tho I know nothing passes alone anyway.

SO I am so upset at my mom, for dumping her b-loved Yorkie "Shorty" at the vets to be put down and quickly leaving.

She could not deal, but I told her I would be honered to be with him when he passed. She did not even have him cremated, she just left him!

Then she has the nerve to whine to me via email about her "baby boy."

Sheeeeattt!!! Death is part of life, the good times and the bad and we damn sure owe our pets a blessed passing as we do owe them the best of living circumstances when they are with us.

rant over.....

Some people just should not have animals!!!

I totally agree with you 10000000% everything you said, word for word!!!

I am soooooo sorry she did this. It's really sad people think it's easier to run away.

Shows no respect to the animal.

Several years ago we had to euthenize of my Mom's Dobermans on a Sunday at the emergency Vet clinic..........after she was euthenized, I felt TERRIBLE leaving her body there. It just killed me and I promised myself I would never do that again.

So the next dog I had, Hope, the cocker spaniel, I had a wonderful lady vet come to our house and do it at home. Then I helped carry her body out to the car (to go and get cremated at the shelter.) Then I got her ashes back and buried them under the plum tree. Bought some cute statues to put on top and memorial.

Even when the lady Vet took her away from our home, I asked her, "PLEASE make sure she is dead before you give her body to them. (I've heard stories of people who thought the dog was dead, open the freezer and there is an alive dog in there.)

This was so much better for me emotionally than leaving Abby's body at the Emergency Vet clinic.

I am sorry again, reading this made me very sad for Shorty, I would never leave my dog's or cat's side through death.......never.

Still angry with my mom...but then again she is my mom...and I suppose this should not suprise me.

Now, I shall go and love my 6 kitties, a bunch of fish in 2 Aquariums and my betta...

o, not to mention all the wildlife I enjoy and feed..
