The surrender of three very bonded little dogs on Friday to the busy San Bernardino City Shelter made volunteers just want to cry. Animal advocates never get used to seeing the heartbreak of the dogs left behind as their families turn around and walk away forever.

Nini, Morongo and Dreamer were devastated as their owner left. Their information included the following:

"This darling little family was dumped at San Bernardino City Animal shelter today because their family is moving. The owners stated they are all loving, good dogs. They are also house broken, good with children and other dogs and they are also good with cats."

Meet the trio. Please click here for Nini's PetHarbor listing. She is a smooth coat, blue Chihuahua about two years old. For more information about this animal, call San Bernardino City Animal Control at (909) 384-1304. Ask for information about animal ID number A475727.

Please click here for Morongo's PetHarbor listing. She is a brown and white, smooth coat Chihuahua aged at only eight-months old. For more information about this animal, call San Bernardino City Animal Control at (909) 384-1304. Ask for information about animal ID number A475728.

Please click here for Dreamer's PetHarbor listing. He is a beagle and dachshund mix estimated to be a year-old. For more information about this animal, call San Bernardino City Animal Control at (909) 384-1304. Ask for information about animal ID number A475729.

A stalwart volunteer had the following to report about the heartbreaking separation when the dogs were left at the shelter:

"The 3 of them are extremely bonded. While getting turned in, kennel staff was ready to put the leash over the beagle mix, Dreamer. Dreamer freaked out and panicked. Then Nini and Morongo started to freak out because of Dreamer. The shelter office was a mess with all 3 dogs running around in panic mode.
Then I get to their kennel, and I see them all huddled together; so sad. They only have each other now. They lost their home and their humans; they cannot lose each other. Please save them together!"

Follow their Facebook thread as volunteers and animal advocates share their sad story and pledge donations for an approved rescue organization.

City of San Bernardino Animal Control-Shelter (909) 384-1304. The shelter is located at 333 Chandler Place in San Bernardino. The shelter is closed Sunday and Monday. Hours are from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
