Sunday, April 5, 2015Hansen, Judith aka Judy Save a Best Friend Rescue**This is an opinion and a direct experience with an adopter and in no way is meant to cause harassment, harm or otherwise to any mentioned parties. This is a suggestion for other rescues and adoption agencies to please be careful who you adopt to and of the opinion NOT to adopt to this person!**Information regarding the Veterinarian she went to has been withheld until we have the opportunity to speak with the doctor directly!**Judith (Judy) Hansen 2 Sunset Terrace Avon, CT Judy is an 80 year old, persistent woman, who lives alone. She initially contacted our rescue a month ago adamant she would like to adopt a lab as a companion to hike with her. She is retired, hikes daily, and her pet travels everywhere with her. Judy met with us this week to meet a lab we have for adoption. I asked many questions and she stated her last pet was a Doberman she had to put down 2 years ago because he became very aggressive. I asked if she made any attempts to work with the dog or rehome, surrender, etc and she said she did not as she didn't want anyone to get hurt. I gave her an application and told her a home visit was required as well as a vet reference and 2 personal references. Judy called me this Thursday April 2, 2015, stating the application was filled out and she would like to pick up the lab we have for adoption. I again reiterated our adoption policy and approval process. Friday I reviewed Judy's application. Looking at the previous pets portion she listed pets she had in high school. I told Judy we are looking for most recent pets, not animals from 65 years ago. She started to say, oh geez, let me think and had a lot of hesitation. I said Judy, what was the last animal you had? She said a Doberman 2 years ago. I asked twice, no pets since then? She said no. I asked what animals prior to the Doberman, she she stated 2 German short haired pointers that lived to be 13 and she put down due to old age. I asked several more questions and again she said, can I come get the lab now? I said no, we still need to complete the approval process and I will get back to you. I called Judy's vet and the doctor was not available so I spoke with a vet tech. I introduced myself and asked who Judy listed as her most recent pet and the tech said a 10 month old lab named Misty that was euthanized April 2. I said yesterday? She said Yes! I was shocked. I asked why did she euthanize a 10 month old puppy? She said she told the doctor the puppy had diahrea. I asked if any treatment was requested for the diahrea and the tech said no, Judy made an appointment to bring the puppy in and to euthanize her. I said any pets before? And she said a one year old Doberman that was euthanized June of 2014. No reason listed. I asked the tech to please have the doctor call me. I am still waiting to speak to the vet to get further clarification on if and why he is euthanizing seemingly healthy puppies and young animals. I still did not want to wait to put this DNA out as Judy is very eager and persistent in her search for another dog. THIS WOMAN IS ADOPTING AND KILLING ANIMALS FOR NO REASON! I called Judy back and asked, "did you kill a puppy yesterday?" and she said, "I did". I then asked, "you stated you haven't had an animal in 2 years?" Judy stated, "I didn't think it was relevant". I said, "why not? It was a pet you owned and didn't disclose this. I asked you 2 times?" She said, "am I going to get the lab or not?" I said, "why on earth would you put down a 10 month old puppy?" Judy said, "because she started pulling on the leash during our hikes" I said, "are you kidding me? When I met with you Misty was still alive, we could've taken her, it would've saved you money to not euthanize her. She could be happy with another family, this is not right" Judy said, "well that's my decision if my animal lives or dies, am I approved or not?" I said, "not only are you denied, you should never own an animal for the rest of your life." Judy is clearly very dangerous as an animal owner and should not be permitted to adopt or own an animal. Local animal control has been notified and I am still waiting to speak to the vet. I have left 3 messages and was told he will call me back this morning. PLEASE SHARE THIS DNA WITH EVERY RESCUE, SHELTER, BREEDER, EVERYONE! Judy killed 2 animals within a 10 month period and is adamantly looking for her next dog. She is persistent and clearly should not own animals if she is just killing them. http://ourdnalist.blogspot.com/2015/04/hansen-judith-aka-judy.html IP: Logged |
