Did your chicken come from a house of horrors? If you eat at Wendy’s, the answer is likely yes. While other major food companies including Chipotle, Panera Bread, Starbucks, Aramark, Pret A Manger, and Compass Group, have already pledged to use only chickens raised under higher welfare standards, Wendy’s still allows its suppliers to pack chickens into dark, crowded, waste-filled warehouses; grow birds so unnaturally fast they are in constant pain; and cut open the throats of chickens while the birds are still conscious. This is animal cruelty no company with morals should support.
