Celeste! I would love to answer that, but I think I will give others a shot at it first.....I am one to dispute and analyze and generally tear the various versions of the Bible to virtual shreds...some here and elsewhere may think I am a incarnate......so I will wait......but check this out...compare the first creation to the second.....both in Genesis...and it really gets weird. I posted a little of that rant on some recient threads and some old ones here at Universal Codes.....but I think the issue of analyzing and really discussing these matters makes people afraid that lightning will come down upon their heads...... As far as an answer, my first guess would be that he is speaking to a (female) co-creator?And, for that matter, does anyone else think that God is not a "he" but genderless. Or, rather, the total combination of male and female energies? If this is the case, then the usage of the words "our" and "us" could be referring to the higher selves of all of us, who are all interconnected with God. I would love to continue this discussion! I've always seen "God" as genderless.... More of a source, with both masculine and feminem energies flowing in balance.... Fayte, I'm with you on this one... I tend to keep most of my "ideas" to myself to not rock the boat too much. IP: Logged |

Yes! That's exactly how I think of God. This is something I really do want to discuss more. In some ways I'm terrified because... well, there's a lot at stake. More on this later. Babysitting right now. Please keep this going! IP: Logged |

Well, I could be wrong, but I remember seeing somewhere, that the words were The Gods created Man in their image meaning not the creator God, but our higher Gods. It was changed to remove polytheism and try to walk down the monotheism path. Another interpretation is that God is everything and hence Her image is all people/creations. Therefore you could say She created a chair in Her image.Let's rock it baby! I feel like a swim! Dean. IP: Logged |

Woops, just to clarify something, I read this thread a while ago and thought you said "God made man in his image" but you quoted what I paraphrased. Just had to add that Dean. IP: Logged |

"in the image of God created he him male and female created he them" the meaning of image in strongs concordance is "to shade,a phantom, illusion ,resemblance" Linda Goodman lexigramed image to mean "i am a magi" i think this refers to two becoming one in love making to create a third person(one) and to mean the marraige of two sides of mind anima and animus to become one mind and to mean all things evolve from the pairing of 1+1 to equal 2 to merge as one to create a 3 (like the asc. and moon and sun) which becomes its own one. all creation begins this way as above so below i believe that we are Gods IP: Logged |

This is a really busy week....today is my husband and my wedding anniversary! And the Summer solstice...and we are trying to work on some of our writing projects...and get ready for a psychic fair where we will be doing our www.inneryou.info stuff...and my husband's birthday too! Add to that Father's day! So as you can see, Fayte has been very busy and will be so for until next Monday! And that is not counting my being disabled. Next week I should be back to my usual routine. I could never reconcile myself to the "White-bearded man sitting on a throne" God. It never seemed right even when I was a child and it was being drummed into my consciousness at Sunday school. When I think of God I think Energy/Force/Intellegence/Love...and an equal blend of masculine/feminine. I just don't know about the "image" thing...but, I would like to hear some thoughts about it. I remember being in church as a girl, and wondering what is the priest talking about? Then, the huge statues of Jesus on the Cross would frighten me..... It just didn't make sense to me then, and it doesn't make sense to me now. When I was about 13, I discovered a book on Greek Myths. I fell in love with the stories of the "Gods", especially since I was already intrigued with astrology at the time. I loved discovering the tales that bring us the zodiac we now have. That was when I first began to question the belief of one masculine disapproving God. The ancients beliefs of multiple Gods or different sides of a God, makes more sense. IP: Logged |

Celeste - i can totally relate to your last post. My family was not the church going type, i attended church as a young child with some neighbor girls. I too never understood what the priest was talking about. I have other friends who did the whole church thing Sundays, Mondays and Wednesdays. I remember being booted from thier house on a few different occasions because her mom didnt like the fact that i would say "Oh my god!" about things. She tried to force religion on me, which only made me rebel against it. I never understood the whole god story and often question in areas that i guess i wasnt supposed to question. People often looked at me with disgust and would say surprisingly - "you don't know god, or you dont believe in god" cause for many years i didnt. To this day i am unsure. I know there is something. Maybe it was the way they made god to be that i didnt believe. But it makes sense to say God was equal qualities of both masculine and feminine or even multiple gods which bring us to our whole GOD. jsut like soulmates branching off who are all in search of the one higher being. In highschool when we began getting in to the Greek Mythology - i fell in love with it. At the same time i took astrology as an elective - although the perverted teacher barely touched on Astrology as we know it. The class was definatly mis-titled, it should have been Astronomy instead. Anyhow it was all fun as well. I just neglected to wear short lil skirts there for i was looked down upon by him. Interesting subject ... i'd like ot see wha tothers have to say/think!! ang- IP: Logged |
