MUMBAI: Thousands of Mumbaikars queued up outside the St Michael's Church in Mahim on Saturday to catch a glimpse of the framed picture of Jesus Christ with a red stain on his heart, being considered by devotees a miracle. ( Watch )
On Friday, reports of a portion of the picture around the heart of Jesus darkening had crowds flocking in till about 1am. The Catholic Church, however, said it is not regarding this as a miracle. While on Friday, church authorities had a tough time handling the crowd that thronged the church, on Saturday the devotees were only allowed in single file into the church compound. Some touched the picture, others kissed it and said brief prayers. A spokesperson for the Catholic Bishop of Mumbai said they had not declared the incident a miracle. Fr Antony Charanghat said, "People are drawn to God in different ways and this could be one of them. The Catholic Church has a lengthy and vigorous process of inquiry before it declares any incident a miracle." Fr Donat D'Souza of St Michael parish said the darkening of the stain was noticed soon after the last service in the Church on Friday at around 8.45 pm. "It could be caused by moisture," he said. Several people, acting as ushers at the church, were convinced it was a miracle. Sandeep Piedade said "I think it is a miracle, what else can it be," he said. P Moses another usher exclaimed," Can it be anything except a miracle."

Why such miracles are reported mostly in developing and third world countries?Beware of priests and temple authorities. All idol worship is like being in mid or lower school. Come out of it. IP: Logged |

Your arrogance places you in preschool, Mannu. Come out of it.The truth is, you dont understand a fraction of what you think you do, and most people here are quite aware that you're just another self-deluded nutjob. The only reason you are here at all is to test our patience. So, don't test me. They aren't worshiping the idol, Mannu. They're worshiping God, by respecting the sign given by God. Of course, one should be skeptical; these things are often a hoax. But the evidence of "miracles" has also been verified many many times. Why does it seem to happen more often in third-world countries? Good question! These words of Jesus might hold a clue: "It is easier for a camel to pass through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of heaven."

Mannu, quote:
There is no such thing as God.
Mystics have said the same thing. "God" is a word that can mean many things. The Upanishads say, "God is and is not." You assume you have the mind for this stuff. But it seems to me that you have never understood a word of it. Shiva is an athiest to the atheists, Mannu. But you dont know what that means either, do you? Why dont you humble yourself? Be quiet and listen. Everything that comes out of your mouth is an embarassment. IP: Logged |

What is that supposed to mean? Why dont you just talk straight? I can talk in riddles too. But it takes courage to say what you mean. I only wish this site allowed me to do so. You know I am right about you. Thats the thing. You've got this shell on. You act like such a bully. Really you are just terrified of being conscious, for five seconds, of your own inadequacy. Worship is a state of mind, heart, and soul.It is an attunement to what is highest in ourselves, and in the natural and spiritual worlds. It is the recognition of Something higher than ourselves. And the recognition of something highest in ourselves, but not yet ourselves. Finally, it is the blending of energies with, and receiving of energies from, that Higher Something. You should try it sometime.

ahh I would agree with this! Mannu - though I also agree with some of which you are saying. Its true people in poorer countries are more inclined to believe things but are also more inclined to seek signs...maybe even more likely to receive them...that is not the point. You cannot truly and without reasonable doubt prove to me, or anyone else that there is no God..as we cannot prove that there is...so lets all agree to disagree? It is really unnecessary to start with the whole personal mud slinging...really...everyone is entitled to their beliefs and everyone is entitled to have their beliefs respected...and yes that means both Mannu's disbelief in existence of God and HSC's belief should be both respected...So please do not get into pointless fighting over something that neither of you can convince the other about anyways. quote: an enlightenened scorpio is surely a rare phenomenon.
