Hello Knowflakes, I wanted to share this with you all opinions and comments are welcomed. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/science-environment-12811197 A study using census data from nine countries shows that religion there is set for extinction, say researchers. The study found a steady rise in those claiming no religious affiliation. The team's mathematical model attempts to account for the interplay between the number of religious respondents and the social motives behind being one. The result, reported at the American Physical Society meeting in Dallas, US, indicates that religion will all but die out altogether in those countries.

I shall not mourn the demise of all religions on the entire Earth. Study is one thing but religion is not a road to peace on Earth. It causes discord and separation of humanity. ------------------ ~The present time is theirs, but the future is mine.~Nikola Tesla ~There is no box.~H♥ ~Balance is not letting anyone love you less than you love yourself.~Felipe ~I remember, therefore I am immortal~LEXX }><}}}(*>~

Someone had asked Deepak Chopra what his religion was. His answer was "love." If anyone ever asks me that question I am going to say the same. IP: Logged |

InDeeD, Julah? Seems Mr. Chopra and I have something in common. I've had the same answer for years. Here's another great answer: "My country is the world, and my religion is to do good." -- Thomas Paine And, yeah, geez, it can't happen happen fast enough. *sigh* (The extinction, I mean.) Let's not throw out the baby with the bathwater. In the wake of modern influences, the decline of religious affiliation is no surprise. Mind you, those who feel that something can disappear and that nothing will take its place have no knowledge of the Depths of Nothing. With religion gone, you can rest assured that something else will take its place. Humanity at some point must come to terms with its inner nature: our highest actions are made possible because of the life we receive from ideas. Without the presence of religious ideas (even when given their fallible character) to reflect on, the whole of humanity will suffer greatly. The presence of religion is not merely out of human flaws. It is out of human need. Displace it, and we shall truly see the reason for its presence. That being said, I do not place my faith in religion itself, but in the Sun of God. In our human relationship with the Divine, we must become born again. This is not religion, but reality. To enter into that which is unknown, one must become the unknown. To experience the Depths of Nothing, our I must find contact with nothing. All religions attempt to disclose the Nothing with something. But let us not confuse that Nothing with void. Religion is not void. It is a broken mirror. Its truth is revealed when we see the parts for the whole and the whole for its parts. Good night! IP: Logged |

thanks for the bump Randall as I ment to comment/quote the outstanding paragraph NosiS wrote which I am in complete agreement with quote: Originally posted by NosiS: Let's not throw out the baby with the bathwater. Yes, it was very well-written, indeed. ------------------ "To avoid criticism, say nothing, do nothing, be nothing." Aristotle IP: Logged |

------------------ "Life is like a box of crayons. Most people are the 8-color boxes, but what you're really looking for are the 64-color boxes with the sharpeners on the back. I fancy myself to be a 64-color box, though I've got a few missing. It's okay though, because I've got some more vibrant colors like periwinkle at my disposal. I have a bit of a problem though in that I can only meet the 8-color boxes. Does anyone else have that problem? I mean there are so many different colors of life, of feeling, of articulation...so when I meet someone who's an 8-color type...I'm like, 'hey girl, magenta!' and she's like, 'oh, you mean purple!' and she goes off on her purple thing, and I'm like, 'no - I want magenta!'" -John Mayer IP: Logged |
