I agree beth...Unlike the false doctrine of Pantheism that states that No matter how a man may live — in open defiance of Heaven, with no concern whatever for his soul’s eternal interests, still less for God’s glory, dying, perhaps with an oath on his lips — notwithstanding, God loves him, we are told.So widely has this dogma been proclaimed, and so comforting is it to the heart which is at enmity with God, we have little hope of convincing many of their error. That God loves everybody, is quite a modern belief.It has been customary to say God loves the sinner though He hates his sin. But that is a meaningless distinction.

I learned the difference between right and wrong, good and bad, through living.
God is life? No, life is life.

My question would be "Why 'god'"?

If god is love, acceptance, lessons, enlightenment, war and peace, and all and any things people say their god is, are all those things not still love, acceptance, lessons, enlightenment, etc?

Do these things morph into new things when we call them god? Or are they still the same things?

Why call anything god, why not call it what it is?

These questions are pretty much rhetorical, I'm just outlining my life-long thought process on the subject.

From these questions and many others, the conclusion I come to is that god is a human construct, a name for individual experience of spiriruality, of suffering, of conscience, of aspiration - of life basically (conscious and unconscious, it is all integrated into ones life, therefore it IS life).

And again, I am at the conclusion that the above are the same in their respectful natures, whether they are called god or not.

To me god is a word for many things, varying vastly through many peoples, that muddies the waters of understanding. It can bind toegther those who believe in the same thing, yet it can divide those who believe differently.

No matter what god is to anyone, the buck stops at the foot of the human to embody the traits they attribute to god.

People will become loving, wise and accepting whilst being inspired by the concept of god.
Just as many people will become loving, wise and accepting by being inspired by life and its lessons.

Both of these people will end up in the same place, by doing the same thing - acting in ways that promote love and harmony - that is a human action, wherever the initial inspiration came from.
