The Nag Hammadi Library

The Thunder, Perfect Mind
(Translated by George W. MacRae)

I was sent forth from the power,
and I have come to those who reflect upon me,
and I have been found among those who seek after me.
Look upon me, you who reflect upon me,
and you hearers, hear me.
You who are waiting for me, take me to yourselves.
And do not banish me from your sight.
And do not make your voice hate me, nor your hearing.
Do not be ignorant of me anywhere or any time. Be on your guard!
Do not be ignorant of me.

For I am the first and the last.
I am the honored one and the scorned one.
I am the ***** and the holy one.
I am the wife and the virgin.
I am <the mother> and the daughter.
I am the members of my mother.
I am the barren one
and many are her sons.
I am she whose wedding is great,
and I have not taken a husband.
I am the midwife and she who does not bear.
I am the solace of my labor pains.
I am the bride and the bridegroom,
and it is my husband who begot me.
I am the mother of my father
and the sister of my husband
and he is my offspring.
I am the slave of him who prepared me.
I am the ruler of my offspring.
But he is the one who begot me before the time on a birthday.
And he is my offspring in (due) time,
and my power is from him.
I am the staff of his power in his youth,
and he is the rod of my old age.
And whatever he wills happens to me.
I am the silence that is incomprehensible
and the idea whose remembrance is frequent.
I am the voice whose sound is manifold
and the word whose appearance is multiple.
I am the utterance of my name.

Why, you who hate me, do you love me,
and hate those who love me?
You who deny me, confess me,
and you who confess me, deny me.
You who tell the truth about me, lie about me,
and you who have lied about me, tell the truth about me.
You who know me, be ignorant of me,
and those who have not known me, let them know me.

For I am knowledge and ignorance.
I am shame and boldness.
I am shameless; I am ashamed.
I am strength and I am fear.
I am war and peace.
Give heed to me.

I am the one who is disgraced and the great one.
Give heed to my poverty and my wealth.
Do not be arrogant to me when I am cast out upon the earth,
and you will find me in those that are to come.
And do not look upon me on the dung-heap
nor go and leave me cast out,
and you will find me in the kingdoms.
And do not look upon me when I am cast out among those who
are disgraced and in the least places,
nor laugh at me.
And do not cast me out among those who are slain in violence.

But I, I am compassionate and I am cruel.
Be on your guard!

Do not hate my obedience
and do not love my self-control.
In my weakness, do not forsake me,
and do not be afraid of my power.

For why do you despise my fear
and curse my pride?
But I am she who exists in all fears
and strength in trembling.
I am she who is weak,
and I am well in a pleasant place.
I am senseless and I am wise.

Why have you hated me in your counsels?
For I shall be silent among those who are silent,
and I shall appear and speak,

Why then have you hated me, you Greeks?
Because I am a barbarian among the barbarians?
For I am the wisdom of the Greeks
and the knowledge of the barbarians.
I am the judgement of the Greeks and of the barbarians.
I am the one whose image is great in Egypt
and the one who has no image among the barbarians.
I am the one who has been hated everywhere
and who has been loved everywhere.
I am the one whom they call Life,
and you have called Death.
I am the one whom they call Law,
and you have called Lawlessness.
I am the one whom you have pursued,
and I am the one whom you have seized.
I am the one whom you have scattered,
and you have gathered me together.
I am the one before whom you have been ashamed,
and you have been shameless to me.
I am she who does not keep festival,
and I am she whose festivals are many.

I, I am godless,
and I am the one whose God is great.
I am the one whom you have reflected upon,
and you have scorned me.
I am unlearned,
and they learn from me.
I am the one that you have despised,
and you reflect upon me.
I am the one whom you have hidden from,
and you appear to me.
But whenever you hide yourselves,
I myself will appear.
For whenever you appear,
I myself will hide from you.

Those who have [...] to it [...] senselessly [...].
Take me [... understanding] from grief.
and take me to yourselves from understanding and grief.
And take me to yourselves from places that are ugly and in ruin,
and rob from those which are good even though in ugliness.
Out of shame, take me to yourselves shamelessly;
and out of shamelessness and shame,
upbraid my members in yourselves.
And come forward to me, you who know me
and you who know my members,
and establish the great ones among the small first creatures.
Come forward to childhood,
and do not despise it because it is small and it is little.
And do not turn away greatnesses in some parts from the smallnesses,
for the smallnesses are known from the greatnesses.

Why do you curse me and honor me?
You have wounded and you have had mercy.
Do not separate me from the first ones whom you have known.
And do not cast anyone out nor turn anyone away
[...] turn you away and [... know] him not.
[...].
What is mine [...].
I know the first ones and those after them know me.
But I am the mind of [...] and the rest of [...].
I am the knowledge of my inquiry,
and the finding of those who seek after me,
and the command of those who ask of me,
and the power of the powers in my knowledge
of the angels, who have been sent at my word,
and of gods in their seasons by my counsel,
and of spirits of every man who exists with me,
and of women who dwell within me.
I am the one who is honored, and who is praised,
and who is despised scornfully.
I am peace,
and war has come because of me.
And I am an alien and a citizen.

I am the substance and the one who has no substance.
Those who are without association with me are ignorant of me,
and those who are in my substance are the ones who know me.
Those who are close to me have been ignorant of me,
and those who are far away from me are the ones who have known me.
On the day when I am close to you, you are far away from me,
and on the day when I am far away from you, I am close to you.

[I am ...] within.
[I am ...] of the natures.
I am [...] of the creation of the spirits.
[...] request of the souls.
I am control and the uncontrollable.
I am the union and the dissolution.
I am the abiding and I am the dissolution.
I am the one below,
and they come up to me.
I am the judgment and the acquittal.
I, I am sinless,
and the root of sin derives from me.
I am lust in (outward) appearance,
and interior self-control exists within me.
I am the hearing which is attainable to everyone
and the speech which cannot be grasped.
I am a mute who does not speak,
and great is my multitude of words.
Hear me in gentleness, and learn of me in roughness.
I am she who cries out,
and I am cast forth upon the face of the earth.
I prepare the bread and my mind within.
I am the knowledge of my name.
I am the one who cries out,
and I listen.
I appear and [...] walk in [...] seal of my [...].
I am [...] the defense [...].
I am the one who is called Truth
and iniquity [...].

You honor me [...] and you whisper against me.
You who are vanquished, judge them (who vanquish you)
before they give judgment against you,
because the judge and partiality exist in you.
If you are condemned by this one, who will acquit you?
Or, if you are acquitted by him, who will be able to detain you?
For what is inside of you is what is outside of you,
and the one who fashions you on the outside
is the one who shaped the inside of you.
And what you see outside of you, you see inside of you;
it is visible and it is your garment.
Hear me, you hearers
and learn of my words, you who know me.
I am the hearing that is attainable to everything;
I am the speech that cannot be grasped.
I am the name of the sound
and the sound of the name.
I am the sign of the letter
and the designation of the division.
And I [...].
(3 lines missing)
[...] light [...].
[...] hearers [...] to you
[...] the great power.
And [...] will not move the name.
[...] to the one who created me.
And I will speak his name.

Look then at his words
and all the writings which have been completed.
Give heed then, you hearers
and you also, the angels and those who have been sent,
and you spirits who have arisen from the dead.
For I am the one who alone exists,
and I have no one who will judge me.
For many are the pleasant forms which exist in numerous sins,
and incontinencies,
and disgraceful passions,
and fleeting pleasures,
which (men) embrace until they become sober
and go up to their resting place.
And they will find me there,
and they will live,
and they will not die again.

Look toward Pistis Sophia to gain clarity in the Divine Feminine. (most) Scholars are in agreement The Thunder, Perfect mind is the Pistis Sophia speaking .

The words Pistis Sophia are Greek for "Faith Wisdom" and represent a teaching given to the disciples of Christ Jesus AFTER his resurrection. Significant for modern times, these are teachings revealed not only to Jesus' male disciples, but also to his female disciples including Mary Magdalene, Martha, and Salome!

Pistis Sophia in its fuller context represents not only the Wisdom of the Divine Father and the teachings of the Divine Son, but the Divine quality of the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit is exemplified in actual female forms of the Divine Mother, the Celestial Mother, the Virgin of Virgins, Mary and Mary Magdalene.

The Pistis Sophia manuscripts date from 150-300 C.E. However, this extensive and expansive teaching is claimed to have been given a mere 11 years after the resurrection. In essence, according to the original writers, these are some of the post-Gospel teachings of Christ.

I see life as having a male and female energy and the two balance each other..or should.

the bible speaks of God watching Adam and saying "it is not good for a man to be alone"

Which to me sounds very much like a motherly thought...thusly Eve was created..a really cool side note to that is the account has Eve being created from "adams' rib"..but what is actually written is "curve" ie..DNA helix

It may not have been divine but it was brilliant!

quote:
She was so beautiful and shapely that one of her students fell in love with her and was unable to control himself and openly showed her a sign of his infatuation. Uninformed reports had Hypatia curing him of his affliction with the help of music. The truth is that the story about music is corrupt. Actually, she gathered rags that had been stained during her period and showed them to him as a sign of her unclean descent and said, "This is what you love, young man, and it isn't beautiful!" He was so affected by shame and amazement at the ugly sight that he experienced a change of heart and went away a better man.

Cant believe they made that pri.ck Cyril a Saint...

They also tried to cut her out of the School of Athens painting by Raphael, the original design was a trinity, not just Aristotle and Plato at its center...

The divine mother is the soul and love. The divine father is the mind and the light. Once they are united you have lifted the veil and are reconnected with God. This is our mission and why we are separate from the source. We must fight our way back and find our way home. This is why we all have a yearning in our hearts for true love. Searching for someone to fill the void. We long for the reconnection to the heavenly mother.

Hi RegardesPlatero
I believe that God is androgynous and Adam was androgynous until Eva separated from him, most likely in meditation.
The Son/Christ (not Jesus Christ- he is a son of Christ and in HIS image) is the love of God made manifest and the 'Holy Spirit' is the TWIN-SELF of the Son ie the daughter of God. Hence the father and the Son/Christ are both protecting her. Sin against the Holy Spirit and you have to deal with the Father and the Son. Denying her existence was the biggest cover-up the churches ever attempted by taking those books of the bible were it was standing:
Wisdom, she is the Holy Spirit of God (in book of wisdom).
So God made no mistake after all when he created women, as the church made us believe.
By the way: the bible actually says that God is the advocate of women and that he will stand up in the end-times (now) and punish his sons for turning his daughters into ****** , starting with the priests and the fathers. This is referring to temple-prostitution and religions preaching that the girls have to marry somebody from the same religion instead of the man they love. The end of this practises is in sight. Halleluja
Love and light

Hi juniperb
There are in fact a total of 8 universal mothers and fathers, namely the archangels, the parents of the angels. Only that the first-born of the archangel (Archangel Israel) has been declared the 'lost Son', hence we only hear about 7 archangels. Since they are androgynous and in the image of their parent (Christ and the Holy Spirit), there is 16 of them; again only 14 are known. The archangels are octruplets.
Jesus/Enoch/Esau was Michael, Mary and Josef were Ariel, Mary Magdalene was Uriel, Elijah/John the Baptist/Jacob was Rafael, Lazarus/Adam and Eve were Emmanuel, Moses/Mohamed were Gabriel ect, just to name but a few of their incarnations.
Were this forum comes in? Isis and Osiris were also Rafael, one of the universal partends of menkind/angels.
So Jesus, Mary and Mary Magdalene have indeed been Twin-Souls (from the same parent), but not Twin-Selfs.
Believe it or not!

@PixieJane: Your story in the other thread that you linked too makes me sad (but thank you for sharing), reminds of Star and Luna

I don't suppose you ran into Star or Luna while being involved in the discordian scene (Since it pretty much grew up in the Bay Area, due to Bob Wilson's influence) in the 70's? Ofc you would have to have been in Berkeley...

Simunye,
Good morning and welcome to another Linda Goodman reader!!

I need to read your lovely posts more thoroughly but but my brief read reminded me of the H.W. Longfellow poem:

The Angels of Seven Planets

BETHLEHEM
THE ANGELS.
The Angels of the Planets Seven,
Across the shining fields of heaven
The natal star we bring!
Dropping our sevenfold virtues down
As priceless jewels in the crown
Of Christ, our new-born King.

RAPHAEL.
I am the Angel of the Sun,
Whose flaming wheels began to run
When God Almighty's breath
Said to the darkness and the Night,
Let there he light! and there was light!
I bring the gift of Faith.

ONAFIEL.
I am the Angel of the Moon,
Darkened to be rekindled soon
Beneath the azure cope!
Nearest to earth, it is my ray
That best illumes the midnight way;
I bring the gift of Hope!

ANAEL.
The Angel of the Star of Love,
The Evening Star, that shines above
The place where lovers be,
Above all happy hearths and homes,
On roofs of thatch, or golden domes,
I give him Charity!

ZOBIACHEL.
The Planet Jupiter is mine!
The mightiest star of all that shine,
Except the sun alone!
He is the High Priest of the Dove,
And sends, from his great throne above,
Justice, that shall atone!

MICHAEL.
The Planet Mercury, whose place
Is nearest to the sun in space,
Is my allotted sphere!
And with celestial ardor swift
I hear upon my hands the gift
Of heavenly Prudence here!

URIEL.
I am the Minister of Mars,
The strongest star among the stars!
My songs of power prelude
The march and battle of man's life,
And for the suffering and the strife,
I give him Fortitude!

ORIFEL.
The Angel of the uttermost
Of all the shining, heavenly host,
From the far-off expanse
Of the Saturnian, endless space
I bring the last, the crowning grace,
The gift of Temperance!
A sudden light shines from the windows of the stable in the
village below.

Not in this life since I was born in 1982.

I spent a few months in the Bay Area of 2001 but the few pagans I met were so stuck up and humor deprived (it was shocking to me) that I stopped trying to have anything to do with them.

But now I'm curious, who's Star and Luna and what's their story?

My granny has some wild stories from the 60s (she was mixing with beatniks and "nature children" before most people had even heard of a hippie) and 70s (she left a hippie commune in the early 1970s to return to Texas). Maybe I'll share, but they're not all stories of love & light.

Ahh I see, pardon me but I miss read your story where you mentioned the 70's and it seemed to be in relation to just after your experience -nods-

The reason I asked was because it seemed strikingly similar to Star & Luna who were in Berkeley during the 70's

Luna was the daughter of Bob Wilson (Illuminatas Author) and Star was her best friend and possibly even well... I wouldn't say lover in a physical sense but they definitely had a sort of hippie-love affair with one another

Tragically, Luna was murdered while working in a clothes shop when they were both 15, which devastated the local hippie-community and general Bay Area, after which Star disappeared/ran away and possibly even committed suicide in grief

You can read about it here, this Guy was a street-artist during the time period in Berkeley
http://fatbillandme.blogspot.ie/2008_01_27_archive.html

So I couldn't help but think of their situation when I read your story

Your Granny sounds like a real life experience kinda woman, its always good to have someone like that in ones life, even more so if their stories are not all of the love & light variety

No prob.

I recall where I read that ("wind through the World Tree" bit), too, it was in Drawing Down the Moon (I think 2nd edition).

I'm sorry to hear Luna died. I've read & listened to Bob Wilson many times and remember at least one (and I think up to 3) story about Luna and came to feel a fondness for her but I hadn't known she was killed, especially as a child.

Such experiences, and those worse, are common on the streets, however, probably more so for children than adults since even homeless adults can typically get more help (from police to shelters to hospitals) than kids on the street can.

Yea too bad huh, although I'm sure she has herself a new body by now and is probably in her late 20's

ORIFEL.
The Angel of the uttermost
Of all the shining, heavenly host,
From the far-off expanse
Of the Saturnian, endless space
I bring the last, the crowning grace,
The gift of Temperance!
A sudden light shines from the windows of the stable in the
village below.

The Shekinah shares some features in common with the parallel idea of Sophia (wisdom) in Christianity. Like Sofia, Shekinah has sometimes been personified and worshiped as a goddess of wisdom within contemporary pagan religions and New Age spirituality.

Judaism
The Shekinah is held by some to represent the feminine attributes of the presence of God (shekhinah being a feminine word in Hebrew), based especially on readings of the Talmud

Contemporary
In the work by anthropologist Raphael Patai entitled The Hebrew Goddess, the author argues that the term Shekhinah refers to a goddess by comparing and contrasting scriptural and medieval Jewish Kabbalistic source materials. Patai draws a historic distinction between the Shekhinah and the Matronit.

Comparative
Shekhinah", often in plural, is also present in some gnostic writings written in Aramaic, such as the writings of the Manichaeans and the Mandaeans, as well as others. In these writings, shekhinas are described as hidden aspects of God, somewhat resembling the Amahrâspandan of the Zoroastrians

Islam
Sakinah is a spirit from God that speaks, and, in the case of the Israelites, where people disagreed on some issue, this spirit came to clarify the situation, and used to be a cause of victory for them in wars. According to Ali, "Sakinah is a sweet breeze/wind, whose face is like the face of a human". Mujahid mentions that "when Sakinah glanced at an enemy, they were defeated", and ibn Atiyyah mentions about the Ark of the Covenant (at-Tabut), to which the Sakina was associated, that souls found therein peace, warmth, companionship and strength.
