well padre, i will agree to disagree there...passing judgment is a form of "sanction" in my book...and most people have redeeming graces, so demonizing them as total arseholes is crude at best.IP: Logged |

One's version of what is "judgment" would mean actions are not even be noted. Nowhere is this taught, as "by their fruit you shall know them" is also included. IP: Logged |

Padre, an attempt to micro manage the word ? It has much broader meaning or intent than just " a punishment or sanction"judge (v.) c.1300, "to form an opinion about; make a decision," also "to try and pronounce sentence upon (someone) in a court," from Anglo-French juger, Old French jugier "to judge, pronounce judgment; pass an opinion on," from Latin iudicare "to judge, to examine officially; form an opinion upon; pronounce judgment," from iudicem (nom. iudex) "judge," a compound of ius "right, law" (see just (adj.)) + root of dicere "to say" (see diction). Related: Judged; judging. From mid-14c. as "to regard, consider." The Old English word was deman (see doom). Spelling with -dg- emerged mid-15c. http://www.myetymology.com/english/judge.html ------------------ We need to listen to our own song, and share it with others, but not force it on them. No offense juniperB, however Dekrino is koine Greek, and that from 1100 yrs or so before the French definition that you reference. "Some cite Matthew 7:1 as proof that we should do no judging whatsoever: "Judge not, that you be not judged." Here, the Greek word for "judge" is krino, meaning to condemn, avenge, damn, sentence, or levy a punishment." Read more: http://www.bibletools.org/index.cfm/fuseaction/Topical.show/RTD/cgg/ID/2500/Krino.htm#ixzz2LfNn9l28
Further Christ goes onto say give a righteous judgment not one based on appearances. This is one of the myths about Christianity that I find humorous when referenced by none Christians. No context. IP: Logged |

Oh sure, just keep in mind if the New Covenant is meant as a blueprint for Christians, then usage at the time of writing is far more coherent than current usage from a Christian pov. One of my missions in life is to dispel some of the fallacies surrounding what the New Testament actually instructs. IP: Logged |

Not as much as one would think, generally speaking it is either Greek, or Hebrew, the problem is the English translations sort of offers a one dimensional view of what was being spoken about. A good example is the word "corn", there was no corn in Israel, it came from the Natives in the Americas 2000 yrs later, yet the word corn is used.

The new pope will definitely not be from Europe or North America. I say this because a non traditional pope is a sign of the end times. The most logical choice would be a cardinal from either South America or the Philippines as both have huge and growing roman catholic populations, while attendance is declining everywhere else. My background is Filipino and my great, great, great grandfather was a priest and in the Philippians they are treated almost like celebrities. A tangent decision would be to chose the African candidate. If I were to place a bet I would say an Argentina pope, why? Strong religious base combined with an emerging South American economy means South America is the only thing saving the Roman Catholic church. --------------------------------------- Capircorn Rising Gemini Sun, 5th House Aries Moon Mercury in Gemini Venus In Taurus IP: Logged |

I don`t think we will have a North American Pope nor an African. Scola is the most popular but I like Turkson quote: Given that Scola is the favorite, this means that each time we see black smoke, the more likely we are to see an unorthodox candidate such as Turkson.
