They were meant to have a life experience of highs and lows and how to deal with them or experience the diversity all in one lifetime.Maybe getting rich through the lottery once, made some people richer....briefly. I'm sure not all of them became "sad" once the money was gone.
Most people who started out poor, already know the richness in that and can swing back into that lifestyle no problem. They don't even flinch about it.
What a wild ride some people have. Sometimes only to serve as a lesson about what is worthwhile, perhaps.
It's not only lottery winners, it is a general commentary on how life tends to work.
I've seen that often in my life, a conversation starts out "happy" with "oh, I found the perfect (blank) and I love it" then when the subject changes "..no I'm still not happy with them over (blank).."
I suspect "the Preacher" (Solomon) was right when he said to eat, drink and be merry for tomorrow we (may) die"
Find contentment in what you can when you can, and contentment is possible in everything.
This sort of approach is one of the things I've found in most religions/faiths that I've studied.
