To me, Juni already moderates here - always thought she'd be an official mod here..

Anyhow, You have my vote, Juni.

Thank you for the thought

Why in heaven's name would it offend another member? Unless Randall said this to you, it's mere speculation and also implies that this said member controls his decisions which I highly doubt.

It's speculation. I didn't want to be specific for fear of sounding like I was being unfair, but I am actually looking for someone religious, but not Christian.

Ouch Randall. I was going on our private convo last March about it.

Anyhow, I get it, no worries.

Oh, yeah, I think I remember now. A lot has changed since March. Will e-mail you to clarify.

Are there any other religions on the do not approve list?

Considering this for a moment, it's a shame HSC has left us. A moderator with a working knowledge of multiple religions would be nice on a forum ostensibly dedicated to diversity in religion. Also, HSC did not appear unduly biased either for or against religion.

Hopefully you will find a suitable substitute, Randall.

What about IQ? He is very knowledgeable in many different areas....if he would be willing

IMO Juniperb is a wonderful candidate for DD
(Why would anyone be offended? )

I guess the antithesis of Christianity would also be on the no-no list. No Satanist Mods.

I strongly disagree with you about HSC. But to each their own.

Now there's an interesting thought!

I agree. Juni can speak knowledgeably about Judaism and Islam, but she mainly identifies as Christian, so she's unfortunately off the list of applicants.

Now see that's a shame. A satanist would have a grand time here.

I can see your hesitation based on his previous moderatorship, but we all grow up sometime, don't we? You've certainly had worse. I don't think it can be argued that HSC is fluent in a wide variety of religious subjects. Well, pointless debate unless he should happen to return. Why not just run with what you have? Seems to be working.

What religion is anascorp? Juni does a good job in the most volatile Forum in LL. That's why I keep her as a lone Mod there. HSC was far from neutral in my perception. This is not a Christian site, but they are definitely welcomed here--both at LL and in DD. I just don't want one at the helm of the DD ship.

My impression is that only about ten people frequent this forum on a regular basis, and almost half of them are mods, so we'll survive.

Look how tranquil this potentially volatile thread has remained.

Peaceable kingdom.

Well actually they would probably find it boring and not at all interested to engage anyone.
At least ones I have encountered.
And why?
Because most folks have an incorrect concept of what they are, and have already judged them as automatically some evil organization or whatever.
Sigh....
Seriously though;
It appears both you and Randall have an incorrect view of a true Satanist, and seem to as most folks do, base your concepts of what a Satanist is on the goth cult/Hollywood silliness versions.
Please read this page
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Satanism

PS.
Was not insulting anyone here.:

Most folks are quite clueless when it comes to this topic, and or think its evil and do not bother to understand because of fear or preconceived concepts of what they think it is.
Threads of these concepts are here at DD but most folks did not realize the various variations and types of cross overs/blendings of many concepts/philosophies,
with Luciferism, Gnosticism, Paganism, Magick, and other non Abrahamic based religions.
The link above gives a broad but fairly good overview.

I am agnostic...I haven't 'chosen' a religion...I like to keep an open mind on beliefs about What 'God' means.
I have seen good people from all walks of religion. I enjoy hearing their POV, even if I don't agree. The damnation with religion is what bothers me

Yes the damnation belief/desire is very revolting to me.
I do not dismiss the concept of what folks call god.
I just theorize if any of the popular stories are true in any way,
that it was some alien or whatever the ape men mistook for a god because they had no way of explaining it so invented god ideas to try to understand, and the superior technology person tricked, deceived and used the primitives for its own agendas.
As far as some grand cosmic being/intelligence;
I keep an open mind;
but feel it would not even pay the slightest attention to us with the universe of billions of galaxies with countless stars and worlds in each and beings;
just wow!
The idea that such even notices us is arrogance and ego to the point of beyond infinitely ridiculous;
in my opinion.
Anyhow;
I am not an atheist as some may think.
Closest thing I am is
a "Humanist"
and or a "Spiritist",
NOT a "Spiritualist"
and NOT a Christian version of either one.
As I said already;
I am Not an atheist either.
Atheists strictly do not believe any God;
but;
they also do not believe or even hold theory possibilities of any kind of ESP, psychism, ghosts, a soul,
and do not believe in any afterlife of any kind;
and basically are too closed minded in my pov because their povs are closed just like fundies; and leave no room for growth or change, or what ifs, or any theories.

My theories may sound nutters to some
but I intend to continue to keep an open mind.

Lexxi,
I would love to chit chat with you sometime...especially about the esp, obe ect. I somehow feel humanity is evolving and will someday find the 'core' of what religion is really about..a higher brighter light of where love and compassion stem from..

On the contrary, 'satanism' is a road I have traveled, though I did not prefer that description then nor do I now.

And yes, I would have found a good deal to amuse myself with here at LL.

You never do know, eh?

That's a nice healthy approach, anascorp. It's a rare soul who isn't carrying on their back the heavy weight of conditioning - be it positive or negative.
