I always love your creativity, your sense, and your poster-sayings and pictures.

This was my first listen to Eckhart Tolle, even though I'd seen his mentioned so many times. Seems to be into the 'self', rather than God.

Seems to be a kind of alternative self-philosophy, although I enjoy the sayings very much.

Thanks for the intro into a new thought, Faith.

Faith, your comments above on my story, reminded me of Lucy, the movie. Have you seen it? Also, here is a link, you may be interested in it as its in line with the above poster.

The book mentioned here on the left hand side of the page, the one of Nisargatta Maharaj, 'I am that' resonates with Eckhart Tolle's quote above. Its a very lovely book giving insight into this.

I can't find the exact date for that transformation, but I'm curious about possible transit "windows" when that would have made the most sense, astrologically.

His natal Saturn 18 Leo, conjunct 13 Leo Pluto.

- Tr Saturn was at 18 Leo the last week of July, 1977, and early August. Then the sun transited his Saturn August 11th (conjunct tr Saturn @ 20 Leo, on his pr Mars @ 19 Leo).

^^ It would have been easy for him to sit on park benches at first, in the summer.

- Transiting Mars was conjunct his Uranus August 20th.
- Transiting Jupiter conjunct his Uranus July 12-14.
- Then Mars and Jupiter were conjunct in early Cancer, the first week of September, in his first house, trine his natal Pisces Mercury.

Progressions for mid-July:
* Pr sun @ 26 Pisces square pr Jupiter 27 Sag.
* Pr Mercury @ 28 Aqua square Scorpio Chiron, sextile pr Jupiter
* Pr moon in Gemini or native Taurus
* Pr Mars conjunct Pluto and Saturn in Leo
* Pr Neptune @ 12 Libra, tr Pluto @ 11 Libra

Inconclusive, except we know, if it happened in the summer, that Mars and Jupiter crossed his Uranus, and tr Pluto was conjunct his Neptune. Tr NN was conjunct his Neptune in December 1977.

He'd probably think this study was ridiculous, ego-based stuff...oh well, it's fun to me.

Isn't it weird that Buddha left his palace at age 29?

Faith...{ }

Again, I realize how MUCH I 'spiritualize' EVERYTHING I see and hear and experience. When I read his sayings in light of self 'philosophy' instead of an outside and inside Spirit, it speaks of a different tale.

I have wrongly "mixed" Spirituality IN with philosophy. These are two different things.

The philosophy of self has nothing to do with a Higher Self. A Higher does not exist.

Think of the mindfulness experience where it's just feeling the air in the nostrils. The experience of now means that nothing else exists.

I wonder how many 'spiritual' people make the same mistake by ascribing 'spiritual' meanings to words that are only self-plane, nothing to do with Spiritual essences.

No, not at all offensive. Why should that be considered 'offensive' to discuss the light of nuances there? Unless, one is "fixed" in their thinking? I think it's okay to ask for clarifications and to each be able to share our point of view...

I smile right now because (laughing) I think you are doing the same thing I do when I read the posters. My point is 'proved' because you referred to the Holy Spirit.

quote:
There is an indwelling of spirit...something Higher is controlling our automatic body processes for example...and there is apparently a meeting grounds between our mundane consciousness and that which is Higher.

You might call that, meeting with the Holy Ghost?

Faith ...

Tolle HAS 'no holy spirit' at all. It doesn't exist. Spirit is Dimensional, but Tolle is only only only regarding the plain biology of 'a body' and the psychological personality called a self. There is NO kind of Higher Spirituality in this work (that I've seen).

When he went through his crisis, he stripped that all away. Stripped it all down to the meat of a personal-existence, and there is NO spiritual dimension there. WE are the ones who mistakenly have injected any kind of spirit into it.

People who have had a "faith" activation at some point in their life will probably ADD a dimension which Tolle does NOT include. His is more earth flat. It is "we" (faith-awakened) who 'overlay' a Dimensional aspect to his philosophical sayings.

It is not 'like the Holy Ghost' at all. The Holy Ghost is The Holy Ghost. There's no imitation for Spirit. Spirit IS uniquely Itself.

Ohhhh Faith!! {hugs} I've had the tSun going over my Vulcan-Heracles-Philosophia conjunction 23 Pisces, then it went to ELVIS!!! 26 Pisces. LOL

I'm sorry if my intensity upset you... It's okay here, too! Cheers all-Around!

You are ABSOLUTELY CORRECT when you mentioned that we really can't form a Right-Opinion on ANYTHING that we ourselves have not totally delved into and explored at any kind of depth.....

Many mistakes about religions and Peoples and Systems are made with just a shallow understanding of them. Unless you really KNOW the material, you have to trust the ones who do have Experience with it.

Newton's response about "Astrology" was a prize--- "Sir!!! I have studied it, and YOU haven't!"

Have a Great Day, Beautiful Soul.... Cheers again!

I will need to go through the whole thread. I bought the New earth a few weeks ago but didn't read it. I took it with me on my trip to Vienna I just returned from, which proved a HUGE fiasco, broke up with my boyfriend, lost money etc. And I started reading - devouring! - this book and I started looking at things from a completely different perspective. It helped so much! Definitely a turning point! The power of now is next!

I get a very good vibe from Eckhart. I doubt he's perfect, but who is? But overall, I feel he is a good person/teacher.
