The presenters were islamists? ... They didn't make it clear 'who' produced the media-experiment. Shows how easily a person's 'trust' can be taken advantage of, especially when being presented information that comes under the guise of being true, and by two 'clean-cut, good-looking guys on the street... With many of the anarchists and 'new' terrorists now, even their family never realized their loved-one became 'radicalized'. Soooooo much 'deception'! (Certainly fulfills prophecies!) Also, when people haven't had SOLID thorough quality religious training, it doesn't matter WHAT or WHICH religion it is, they can get misguided. (Plus!! The development and formation of Good Character and values has to be emphasized. ... Like teaching martial arts--- it's not about outside moves, it's about innerself discipline.) Much of what is in 'holy books' is metaphorical.... and the public is DELIBERATELY mislead into taking everything soooo literally. (~~Can't do that with a medical book, pharmacy book, science book, or Astrology-delineations, EITHER!) Out of context, ANY loose quotation (or even a person's image and expression on face) taken from any source (or perspective) can be twisted for someone's sinister entertainment or actual goals in to achieve a certain agenda or steps towards a long-term long-range ends. Love Consciously from deep open heart while being wise there are others with wiles Wise and Eyes-Open as serpents.... Gentle with Heart open and protected as Doves. With that then in place, we Trust Source, Higher Intelligence, Spirit of Wisdom (~whatever you call something greater and outside your OWN ability) to give Right-instincts and nudges. We are in-touch with a Force that's within-us, AND there's 'That' which is invisible and outside. We are not left defenseless. The 'witness' of that is 'available' within. Tap it. We have not been left here Alone. (music) You've Got To Be Taught; Children Will Listen (Many Patinkin) [3:54] http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=owxRpV7l8Dc IP: Logged |

Actually, Romans 1 is the one I get hit with the most, including as justification for why me and my then girlfriend were threatened with murder (one that the cops took seriously). Granted, that these threats took place in the parking lot of a lesbian club (and they'd written down the license plate of our jeep so they could "execute" us at any time "as God commands") may be why they (and others talking about me) prefer Romans 1 since it includes lesbians, whereas the Old Testament pretty much treat women as property rather than people and thus don't talk about lesbianism. I have a funny story about an incident involving both Romans 1 and the words of Jesus (that supposedly condemn homosexuality, though it's a stretch, and what Jesus explicitly said about divorce gets overlooked by most who use the same speech by Jesus to condemn gays) within my family, but it's also cringe-worthy for me, and some people tend to get disturbed on how violent and menacing my family can get, so I'm not gonna share about it, at least not until I've thought about it some. I also read the Bible cover to cover in my teens, and it freaked me out. I was literally terrified of people claiming to be Bible believing Christians with the attitude of "God/Bible says it, I believe it, that settles it." Until I realized that they didn't actually read the Bible beyond a few sanitized stories (more accurate to say it was read to them by preachers and Sunday school teachers, and probably also movies based on it). Interesting enough, I was also reading a fantasy series that included good and evil deities. Jehovah of the Old Testament would definitely be one of the evil deities and I got the impression that Jehovah WAS the inspiration for at least a couple of the evil gods in the series. That all said, I found this book by a Christian BRILLIANT on how to explain the dark side of the Bible. Unlike most, he doesn't overlook or try to dismiss it (and even points out how silly many of the arguments used by other Christians are who can't handle that kind of darkness in it), but embraces it head on, and he manages to make sense out of it so that it no longer troubled him as a Christian. And in a Not-Scary way. Here: http://www.amazon.com/The-Harlot-Side-Road-Forbidden/dp/0345418824 Btw, he was inspired to do this after he decided to read the Bible to one of his kids for bedtime but quickly, and to his surprise, realized the Bible is NOT appropriate for children (save the parts in Sunday school of course). Hi Vajra, hello everyone... I want to apologize. My head has been feeling sooo jammed-up recently. (tSaturn H12 within a few degrees of crossing my Ascendant now, and has been opposite my Sun; Neptune been squaring EACH (and my sun exact). You know how your sinuses can feel really "packed" when you've had a cold? ... Well, I don't have a cold, but my 'head' feels soooo jammed like that. And there's a fatigue that goes with it. I shouldn't be forcing myself sooo hard to keep up with things. In a way, 'working' becomes my escape form of 'resting'? Oh well now, that's messed up! I think I'll just do cleaning projects for a couple days-- maybe not? Pixie-- whoah... You know I went through a Bible College program a long time ago (early 1990s), and fine tooth combed through every single word, and studied all the 'begettings' (genealogies)-- even to the 'original' languages using lexicons, concordances, and all the various study-tools. That was FASCINATING! There are also the different 'versions'... All it takes is something like ONE misplaced comma, and the whole meaning of the text gets skewed and misinterpreted! Remembering an episode of the Addams' Family tv series where Morticia tells Uncle Fester to go tell Gomez... "Don't. Stop." So Fester runs to Gomez and says Hey ~Gomez. Morticia says, "Don't stop!!" (Leaves the period out-- and it changed the whole meaning.) Anyway... gotta go take some rest. See you soon. IP: Logged |
