Being aware of what and where the pitfalls are help us to make good decisions. Just gently acknowledge, and simply course-correct! Go Easy inside. Know and Own for a Fact that You were Born Wonderful! Honor Yourself today, and at some point consciously do that EACH day that you live. IP: Logged |

Sulkyarcher, If you can identify that you SEE/Feel this from encountering the statue or a picture of the Buddha, then there IS something already of that 'state' inside yourself, otherwise you couldn't recognize it. It has already connected and beckons and invites you further to learn who you are and discover your relationship to God. (Although??? confusion, I don't think their religion believes that there IS a God or God-force in the Universe(?).... I'm not really sure what is in the Ultimate Connection for them, as I've not had 'experience' with them.) But from my own spiritual connections?, I would say that if you are drawn to him, then YOU have something of what he has, already IN you. Let him (or any other inspirational character) inspire you to take those Discovery steps and master your own journey within, in which ever way it Guides you. Trust the Process.... IP: Logged |

I'm a Zen practitioner. I'm not a member of a sangha at the moment, but plan to become a member at one here in Portland soon.My links to Zen are as much through Taoism as anything Buddhist, to be honest, but I like that there is a solid tradition in practice with trained teachers to help us along. ------------------ The Declinations Guy Rising Sign Descriptions | Expert rectification ♈ ♉ ♊ ♋ ♌ ♍ ♎ ♏ ♐ ♑ ♒ ♓ IP: Logged |

I'm very interested in Buddhism. What is their text or scripture? The book Siddhartha by Hermann Hesse, is that story truly related to the story of Buddha? It is one of the most beautiful stories I've ever read. I know it's "novel", but it is so full of wisdom. Hard to believe it has no real roots in Buddhism. Thanks for the links already posted. Vajra, can you recommend an English translation of the Prajnaparamita Sutra? I borrowed one in paperback form from a friend years ago, and asking him about it recently, he doesn't even recall which one he lent me, because he has so many. I cannot seem to find it anywhere online. ------------------ The Declinations Guy Rising Sign Descriptions | Expert rectification ♈ ♉ ♊ ♋ ♌ ♍ ♎ ♏ ♐ ♑ ♒ ♓ IP: Logged |

Vajra, thank you. That is quite a wealth of online texts. I don't know what you mean by Platform Sutra. I'm somewhat familiar with what's been termed Heart Sutra, or Heart of Great Wisdom Sutra that is chanted, but understand my attendance at Zeno has been very limited. I have recently discovered Chan Master, Sheng-yen, and his book Hoofprint of the Ox. I will look up Zen Letters and Zen Dawn. IP: Logged |

Wow, this thread has grown. Yeah, when I made it, I was thinking, "Buddhism is such a beautiful religion, why isn't there a full thread on it?"I'm sure there are old threads on Buddhism here, but it's buried all the way down in those dozens/hundreds of pages. IP: Logged |

There is a great manga series I've been reading, called Buddha. It is about the life of Buddha, is, I guess, very far from the truth, but very imaginative and a great read. The author is Osamo Tezuka. It has 8 volumes. I'm right now reading the third... it's fascinating.IP: Logged |
