Hawking believes in parallel Universes, but I'm not sure how he would feel about simulations. Real or not, we are stuck here. IP: Logged |

Thought I'd share this from RWBY Chibi...this is a scene of Penny, a self-aware android...who here shows she has learned to talk to fireflies...and it's sweet: http://youtu.be/L2JIlTwepbo?t=1m39s (All the characters are based on people of myth, legend, faerie tale, and history. Ruby is based on Little Red Riding Hood. And Penny is based on Pinocchio, which is why her "Cricket" is pretty good, too!) IP: Logged |

Thank you PixieJane But...hmmmm.... I am seriously not into that animation art style. It is kind of disturbingly creepy and too stylized to me and the voices very annoying. And sadly does not depict fireflies correctly. However I do like the premise of the story. Just wish a different the style of art and voices were used; and a better depiction of fireflies instead of a unrealistic fantasy version. Suffice it to say I adore fireflies/lightning bugs and glow worms and would never live anywhere without them! PixieJane Do you have them where you are? We have mostly green ones but some rare orange green ones and halogen like blue ones. They have come on June 21st. for decades and leave on the day after Labor Day. However the past 3 years they have arrived on June 11th. instead of the 21st; and left the day after Labor Day as usual. Last year they left a week early. :'( This year I am watching every evening to see if they arrive early again. We have glow worms too; female wingless ones. __ Update! Yes they came early again! Monday night June 11th. at 9:30 PM they began their Summer return! PS. At least LK liked the video. IP: Logged |

I've enjoyed fireflies in rural East Texas but haven't seen them elsewhere. A fond childhood memory of mine is when me and cousins were playing with a glowing ball in a pasture under a full moon and the fireflies were flickering all around us (and I'll always wonder what they thought of our glowing ball). The fireflies and or lightning bugs have been wonderful this Summer! They came on June 11th. again. They use to not show up until June 21st. and then leave day after Labor day. Last year they left a week early. Hope they do not leave early this Summer.------------------ Click here to read My Lexigramming Biography: over 1/2 a century to date ♥ Lexigramming ♥ }><}}('> IP: Logged |

You called Lightning bugs and Fireflies "Junebugs"? We call June Bugs that; and they are totally different from Lightning bugs and Fireflies. I hate Junebugs. Ugh. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Phyllophaga
