Hey guys,Kind of a weird question, but I was in an antique shop that mostly sells jade jewelry and I saw this statue of a god and right as I saw it I feel this really strange tingling that started in my center (head to heart area) and then went down through my arms. Idk if my description makes any sense but it was a strong strong feeling. I asked the person working there who it was and she just said “it’s from china.” It had 3-4 faces and was holding a few things in its hands. Maybe weapons? Confusing bc China would make me think of a depiction of buddha but I’ve never seen anything like that. Maybe a Hindu god? Any ideas? And sorry for the lack of precision with the description/not taking a picture. I was scared to show too much interest in the store. IP: Logged |

Vansio! Brahma is an excellent guess. - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brahm%C4%81_(Buddhism) Here's a UNESCO article. Maybe browse through the pictures. - http://unesdoc.unesco.org/ark:/48223/pf0000068910
If it said 'Made in China' that doesn't necessarily mean it was a Chinese god figurine. China makes many things. You could even find copies of Christian statues Made in China too. ... I looked at a Vatican website that had images-- even they sold statues of Buddha. (music) Plastic Jesus (Paul Newman, from Cool Hand Luke, lyrics) [1:52] http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cUILh26PBvg

Thank you both for the replies. It very well could be just made in China and not a Chinese god, but the way she said it made it sound like an antique from China (and I was in Chinatown, if that adds any context. He (statue) was seated, if that helps. It was confusing for me bc there are four faced Buddha statue too. ------------------ “The truth was a mirror in the hands of God. This wiki article has a table that describes the various gods.- http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hindu_iconography ~ Why did you call it a 'Buddha' statue, rather than the form of another god? Did the salesperson call it a Buddha? IP: Logged |

I don’t think I did. I just said that I was confused bc there exist Buddha statues with four heads (And as I was in a chinese shop id expect it to be Buddha) but I’m not sure this is one of them though. Actually if it were a Buddha Statue I feel like she would have known and just told me. It’s prob more likely to be o be Hindu god. Thanks again for thinking this through with me. IP: Logged |

Interesting. I've never seen Buddha with several heads. IP: Logged |

yeah I probably should have said four headed. And they're more common in Thailand, but they definitely exist.IP: Logged |

One of the BEST stories I've heard describing the Buddha was what happened when a group of monks were needing to move the statue (Thailand). For all-time, they had worshipped in front of the stone statue. Some kind of accident had happened, where a piece of the clay stone fell away. What they FOUND?.. was Gold! The statue was Gold. And the moral of the story is that WE are like that. We are made of Clay. Vulnerable, flawed. Life chips and hacks at us, we crumble. We go within... where Gold inside of Each gets revealed.
