Anywho, I interpreted his teaching to mean, never have an accumulation of positive karma. It is equally bad as accumulating negative karma.

Never give to charity with a thought that doing so , you will go to heaven. Christians and Muslims have been taught otherwise.

Karma should be balanced. Do an act purposeless and you are absolved of the Karma. Universe waits for the Karma to be balanced. So not good for you to keep on accumulating positive karma.
I will sing Elton John's song, "Never take more than you give, in the circle of life". Now, that was true in the Jungle. Human must accept that they have freedom to fall below animals or rise to Gods. Their life experiences and their choices at each moment shapes their destiny.

Mahavira said the other is your hell. Thousands years later , the french philosophers said the same
Truly , Mahaveer (contemporary of Buddha) is the Einstein of spirituality. I used to think the path of aloneness (all is one) is selfish. But my guides tell me serving others purposeless is also equally valid. I am sure, Cancer and Aries are tempted to Mahaveera's teachings.
