So Sahadeva the youngest Pandava has a divine power to see the future. He sees the destined end of Iraval (son of Arjun) who will die during the war after a heroic fight with the enemies.

The tradition in the war at that time was a sacrifice on the battle field of something important that will tilt victory in their favour. Not sure why they believed it then. Wasn't an animal sacrifice good enough? Why should a royal member die as an sacrifice.

When Iraval , son of Sahadev's brother Arjuna , learns about the chaos on who should become the sacrifice to win an impossible war in which their side can become victorious, he offers himself. But on one condition that he does not die a virgin.

Krishna approaches all the kings he knew , to allow their daughters to marry him. Obviously, no one accepts the offer. Which dad would knowing she would be a widow within days.

As time approaches, Krishna feels compassionate and changes form to Mohini , the most seductive form of a woman known to man and decides to spend a night with Iravat.

May be its less painful choice than to offer himself as sacrifice. We would never know what he(KRishna) was thinking to make this indecent proposal to Iravat.

Later on we hear that after he fights the war and dies, Mohini also mourns as a widow.

Krishna wanted the world to remember this act perhaps . Bravo!!!

And no wonder they never considered Jesus as an avatar of Vishnu. Buddha is considered the ninth avatar of Vishnu and the last one before the end of time cycle is Kalki, who is already here some say . That should complete all the characters of a divine God. Ofcourse, Jesus too played his part by dying as a God which no one God did that painfully. But he didn't die in reality. He survived the crucifixion. Not comparing, just saying , the divine has lived as human and set examples for so many generations after them. Their self actualization is the one to aspire for and even best them.

Pass this on.
