Heavens to Murgatroyd, Geo!! OK OK it's yours already I just need to find/figure out some small spacer beads, or maybe bead caps, and then string it up The stringing part takes the least amount of time -- it's the planning, and the fitting, choosing the findings, and the measuring that consumes the hours Would you like it short (just below the hollow of your throat) or long (below your bra-strap) or halfway between?? All of my stuff is one-of-a-kind, so rest assured, my Aries Pioneer, no one will ever have the same necklace as you I'll probably think up earrings and bracelet to match, also.....

ROCK LOVERS ALERT:My boy and I went camping for a week on the north shore of Lake Superior, and we also crossed the border to Thunder Bay Ontario (geesh those border patrol guys are scary!!), to go hunting the wild amethyst!! We went to an amethyst MINE and brought home 18 lbs of it http://www.amethystmine.com/history.html Here's the raw stone we picked up and brought home: IP: Logged |

And some of the pieces I sorted out for possible wire-wrapped pendants (and also just some pretty crystals for a display) -- the sunlight I photographed them in doesn't do them justice, they're really much prettier than this: Amethyst is a violet variety of quartz often used in jewelry. The name comes from the Ancient Greek a- ("not") and methustos ("intoxicated"), a reference to the belief that the stone protected its owner from drunkenness; the ancient Greeks and Romans wore amethyst and made drinking vessels of it in the belief that it would prevent intoxication. I'd like to do something like this with some of the larger stones (this is not my work, just found on google): Amethyst is a 7 on Mohs scale and I'm not prepared to try drilling any of these IP: Logged |

A note about my topic header title (for those who don't remember Snagglepuss ) -- it's not Willy the Shake or Broadway, but Hanna-Barbera.....Snagglepuss has three signature catchphrases. Before dashing off (whether to escape or for some other reason), he exclaims "Exit, stage left!" (or stage right, and sometimes even up or down), a phrase used in theatrical stage directions. Snagglepuss typically appends the adverbial focus particle "... even" to seemingly every phrase. His most famous is his perpetual exclamation, "Heavens to Murgatroyd!" - a line first uttered by Bert Lahr in the 1944 film Meet the People. The connection is obvious to those who know my rising sign IP: Logged |

Thanks Gypsee -- great pun More amethyst mine pics: Here's the mineworks itself -- they apparently dig at the veins with bulldozers and some kind of jackhammers, pick thru the detritus for saleable pieces (grade A or B), and deposit the tailings up top where visitors can pick thru them: My kid picking thru the tailings in the rain: IP: Logged |

bumping you.I love that last one, boy do you have a creative mind, o zala one. Did MVM take you up on the coral? I've been drawn to coral lately. Whoops I switched subjects without realizing people cant see in my head....I was referring to the coral peice of jewelry. Well, I feel I will have to repay you for all your images you so generally provided me in my thread. You have no idea how difficult this is for me....tech support will be called...but just when ya least expect it, expect it! IP: Logged |

Hiya GypseeLady I can't call you "GW" -- that's a bit too reminiscent about a recent bumbling president of this country I'm looking forward to the images you're going to put up!! If you need any techie hand-holding, let me know Since we all like different kinds of art, I'm excited to see what "flavor" your uploads will be I haven't done anything with the coral yet, but the consensus is that it would be perfect for MVM, so it's hers if she wants it (when I finally get enough free time to string it) I have quite a bit of coral, tho -- so there's certainly enough for other people too IP: Logged |

The one for Leo is beautiful Zala, I love it! The Leo pics that I have found have always been too gold (that's understandable) or of too ferocious of a lion, this one is just right - a dreamy lion!IP: Logged |

Oh my!!!! I had an audible gasp on the one with the girl in the bubble holding the scorpion. Must. Have. It.hehehe, Ag has probably not mentioned HOW bad I am with cutting pasting and moving. I can cut and paste very well in real like with paper though! So <<<<<<<<< shrivels down in embaressment, and hoping this comes out in a whisper >>>>>>> What is kyping? And I have a vague notion of wallpaper because of my cellphone, but what does that mean in this world? Hopeless, I know. Oh, you live in Minnesota?????? I guess I didn't pay attention to your location thingy. Cool, do you know Prince? lol. IP: Logged |

Gypsee, how I hate to bump off your Post #69 of my thread..... "Kyping" is nabbing, stealing, nicking, making off with something I've been inspired to finally work on that coral necklace, so here's a couple in-progress photos. This stringing is just a "rough draft" so I can see how the beads look together, and how the spacing fits, and decide whether I want a teensy spacer bead between the coral sticks..... Well, Mars is certainly doing something to you! Niiiice! Silver, please.... that oxidized type is as cool as the shiny type, although I prefer the older looking and less shiny one. I like pieces that are silver and black, chandelier types. I am dramatic, and I wear pieces to show it. If you like I can google some examples and email it to you. IP: Logged |

I've always liked that design Z, it is very tribal looking. I have a necklace just like it, but the stones are tiger eye and the "teeth" are something white, not pearlized at all, but flat white.I have the same bead tray, btw. We probably all do, that seems to be the only one I ever see in the craft shops. Looking good, baby! IP: Logged |
