Oops... I overdosed on my stupid pills this morning... So Oooooooh Michael like in Your Michael: Mensa, Math class, Korea guy!! Well THAT is interesting. So Michael Jackson's a Virgo, huh? I confess I find Virgo a puzzling kinda sign to understand...

OK so YOUR Michael is an Aries sun, Capricorn moon? Ah I see ... ! (fatinkerbell nods and smiles knowingly to hide her utter lack of smarts).

No, man. I wasn't clear enough on which I was speaking about. Virgo is puzzling, right? The interpretations on Virgo are proof of this.

I also wish I knew what they were saying! But I'm gradually figuring it out as I'm studying Korean. There's a really cool channel on YouTube called kpopsubs which has a lot of Korean music video's on it with the translation in English at the bottom, plus the 'English' form of Korean and actual Korean script at the top. I've decided to devote my effort to this channel big time, but for now I am slowly memorizing another song and trying to figure out how the translation fits etc. But I really like this school video, so that will be my second Korean song that I learn, hopefully : )

I'm happy, mostly cos I'm heading home for the day now ... how's things with you and Michael? As I'm about to leave the office now I'll read your reply in the morning .... Have a nice day there in nice and warm SA ... here it's starting to get really really cold. I haven't taken off my furry windbreaker jacket all day!
Anyway, cheers for now,
Love and hugs : D

hey there

Yeah, the cold. Michael has been complaining about it too. We, Michael and I, are... well, same ol' same... chatting here and there, although I have consciously decreased the amount of talking we do because I can't be bothered instigating everything.

How are you and your mom? And what happened on that "weekend"? lol What shenanigans did you get up to? Maybe I should ask all this on facebook.

Anyway, later...

Well, you can read about 'that weekend' in my thread "Is this the job for me" ... it's the weekend I got this beautiful job offer out of the blue ... I was attending a conference for TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages) and I was approached by a private prestigious women's university to ask if I would like to work for them. The woman was impressed by my 'calmness and warmth' and the clever questions I asked in the lecture that we both attended, so she invited me to an interview that went very well. Well, like I explained before ... there are various circles of hell and heaven in Korean English teaching: currently I'm sort of in hell ... a very comfortable hell, but still hell ... public school!!!! (Cue horror music!) University jobs are heaven because you get like sooo much more money and sooo much more leave. And a private university is the holy grail, so to speak ... So I'm actually very excited about the prospect and really hoping it comes through for me. If it does I might consider staying in Korea forever and getting Korean citizenship and everything because I'm making fast progress learning Korean and I think I could be a very highly-sought after commodity in Korea ... a bilingual English teacher who is fluent in both Korean and English. It will still take some time for me to become fluent though but I'm convinced I can do it, which I think many other English teachers in Korea don't bother to try and do ... but because I already have past language learning experience I know it's possible and I know how to go about doing it. So yes... that was the infamous weekend : D
So anyway, you and Michael ... I read in the Soul Unions thread about your struggles ... I'm of the opinion you should tell him you love him - in an e-mail, whatever , asap... but that's just me. What do I know : )

Hey congrats on the job offer. This is excellent! So, if they offered, then it is a matter of YOU saying "yes", right?

This is a great development indeed.

Letram, you totally made my day!! Thank you !!!!! : D Usually I don't inflict my karaoke performances on the world (just my neighbours) but I thought that this song for me sort describes what I'm about most ... breaking on through to the other side. And I thought it would be appropriate for the LL world ... I absolutely love the Doors, especially the words ...

"So, if they offered, then it is a matter of YOU saying "yes", right?"
Well, it's not so simple. You don't have to be psychic to work in Asia, but it helps. Everything is implicit. Strictly speaking I should have used the word 'job offer' ... let's rather phrase it like this - I was approached by a recruiter, who no doubt also approached other candidates. So it's like an offer of a job offer ... They might offer me the job and then I'll definately say yes. It's really like the start of a romance. They haven't actually popped the question yet, but they have 'come courting'. My mom also went for the same interview (we are in Korea together) and they let HER know that they were not going to go for her ... but that they are quite interested in me. They didn't tell ME anything. Maybe it's because I didn't ask them per e-mail as my mom did. For now I'm letting my mom take care of everything. I'll start being more independent next year. I promise. It's my new year's resolution ! So anyway, the point being, the lady who approached me has given my CV and details to her bosses, so maybe at some point I'll hear from them again. Then again maybe not. But one way or another I'm moving up the ladder I'm sure ... actually there are like zillions of Universities in Korea... all over the place. All you need to qualify for a job at a university is a Master's Degree in any field. I like to think however that I might have an advantage over many other applicants because I have a sterling academic record. With some holes in it where I changed courses and quit and worked and stuff like that, but so far I got all my degree's *** laude and I'm actually a total academic. The thing is, that may not be really what they're looking for ... Basically I would be doing the same thing at uni as I do here ... except the students would be adults and not a bunch of hormone - ridden insane teenagers. So maybe I won't have to shout as much.... My voice has become a LOT stronger over the past two years ... my response to noise is to talk louder and louder AND LOUDER AND LOUDER ... actually that's exactly what one is not supposed to do but I kinda enjoy it. Like this morning, picture it: me, screaming at the top of my lungs: 'Now the NEXT wonder of the ancient world is the Pharos of Alexandria, in Egypt. It was a very very big tower. It had a fire on the top. It made light for the ships to see at night ... ' etc. through all the seven wonders of the ancient and modern world : ) At uni I could give the same lesson without shouting. So for that I don't really need the Master's Degree, if you see what I mean. Teaching English is actually not rocket science ... mostly it's just speaking slowly and clearly and using lots of pictures and gestures. But I'm hoping my CV and academic record impresses them so that they see that because I'm a good student, I'm a good teacher too. At this stage my feeling is I should just wait for them to contact me again. That could take a few months. Sigh ... and I'm not the most patient of people ...
